Working independently while applying established engineering standards, this role evaluates system modification requirements, improves simulator realism, resolves technical anomalies, and supports regulatory compliance activities. The incumbent translates technical requirements into workload estimates, performs scope analysis, and executes design, implementation, testing, and integration activities for simulator projects.\nKey Responsibilities\nPerform software and/or hardware design activities using established engineering standards to support flight training device modification requirements.\nInstall, verify, test, integrate, and document new or modified software and hardware designs.\nAssess software and hardware modification requirements to improve training realism and correct system discrepancies or anomalies.\nConvert technical requirements into workload estimates based on project scope, complexity, and resource needs.\nPerform scope analysis, design activities, implementation, testing, and final system integration for assigned projects.\nSupport Technical Services personnel in troubleshooting and resolving complex simulator software and hardware issues.\nDesign, develop, and document operational, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.\nInstall and maintain software and database updates related to navigational and Flight Management System (FMS) components.\nCoordinate initial and recurrent qualification activities and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.\nManage device evaluation reports and discrepancy status reports in accordance with regulatory standards.\nDevelop, maintain, and present documentation required for regulatory evaluations, device modifications, and qualification activities.\nTrack, support, and verify timely resolution of discrepancies identified during regulatory evaluations.\nMaintain Master Qualification Test Guides (MQTGs) and conduct periodic Qualification Test Guide (QTG) test runs.\nCoordinate and manage moderately sized technical projects.\nProvide leadership, coaching, guidance, and mentorship to entry-level and intermediate team members.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace, or a related technical discipline; OR a two-year technical degree combined with equivalent relevant experience.\nBetween 1-3 years of experience coordinating projects and managing technical work activities.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications.\nWorking knowledge of UNIX, Linux, and/or Microsoft Windows operating systems.\nWorking knowledge of FORTRAN, C/C++, and/or Assembly programming languages.\nAbility to perform software and hardware technical activities with minimal supervision.\nEffective written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.\nCustomer-focused approach and ability to collaborate across functional teams.\nAbility to travel occasionally (less than 10%).\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.\nAbility to work in sustained sitting, standing, stooping, squatting, and walking positions.\nAbility to safely climb ladders and work on equipment at heights up to 30 feet.\nAbility to work safely in confined spaces for reasonable periods of time.\nManual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for use of tools and equipment.\nAbility to maintain situational awareness while working around complex machinery capable of multi-axis movement.\nAbility to work in indoor environments with temperatures between 55°F and 65°F.\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or a related engineering discipline.\nExperience in flight simulation, simulator systems, and/or the aerospace industry preferred\nExperience analyzing and implementing real-time flight simulation systems.\nExperience in aerodynamics and physics.\nAdvanced project management experience.\nExperience supporting flight training device qualification and regulatory compliance activities.\nExperience maintaining MQTGs and conducting QTG test runs\n#LI-MS1\nAbout CAE\nAt CAE, our mission is clear: to help make the world a safer place.
