VHB is seeking a Geomatics Survey Project Manager to join our team in the New England region to support leadership in overseeing and growing our Survey Engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Reality Capture services. In this role, you will plan, organize, and manage Geomatics activities from initial field measurements through calculations, drafting, and final deliverables, while coordinating closely with clients and internal project teams. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and oversee projects that provide precise survey data on the configuration, contours, boundaries, location, elevation, and dimensions of land and site features to support engineering design, construction, mapping, land development (including roadway and highway projects), and related applications.If you have a strong technical foundation in Geomatics, a proven track record in project and fiscal management, and a desire to mentor staff while enhancing quality and efficiency, we encourage you to apply.ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, and manage Geomatics activities related to Survey Engineering, GIS, and Reality CaptureManage projects, including budgets, scopes, schedules, project staff, and client relationshipsCoordinate the work of data collection crews, GIS analysts, survey data/CAD technicians and ResearchersDetermine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey controlPerform field checks and manage quality control for all Geomatics products and deliverablesResearch previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data required for surveysDelineate boundaries and reference points based on analysis of survey and record evidenceDirect and monitor construction layout servicesUse and/or oversee the use of specialized field and office equipment and software to collect, process, manage, and draft project dataReview and certify staff work to ensure a high level of precision, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standardsMaintain accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed, and assume legal responsibility for work where requiredCoordinate delivery of Geomatics products to internal and external clients and other key stakeholdersDevelop appropriate reports and applications for Geomatics projects (e.g., boundary analysis reports, rights reviews, data quality analyses)Ensure all job functions are performed in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and proceduresParticipate in ongoing professional development aligned with career goals and emerging industry practicesSkills and AttributesProficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural, and structural drawingsExtensive experience with industry-standard software and technologies for data collection, processing, management, and draftingIn-depth knowledge of one or more of VHB's Geomatics specialties (e.g., Survey Engineering, GIS, Reality Capture)Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong attention to detail; highly organized and task-orientedExcellent research and analytical skills, particularly in records and boundary analysisTeam-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesMotivated to lead, mentor, and develop staffAbility to operate company vehiclesSkills and knowledge commensurate with required experience and job levelQualifications5-10+ years of geomatics experience, including experience managing large-scale, complex land surveying projects2-4+ years of fiscal and contract management experienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredDegree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferredProfessional Land Surveyor (PLS) license preferredClient management and business development experienceExtensive experience using industry-standard Geomatics/CAD software and tools for field and office workflowsMassachusetts land surveying procedures and standards knowledge preferredOur best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Massachusetts is $91,000- $130,000. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
