Human Resources Coordinator

GENERAL SUMMARY, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONSUnder general supervision, the HR Coordinator will support the district and its staff by managing the implementation and administration of employee benefit programs. This role serves as the primary contact for employees regarding benefit inquiries and acts as a liaison between the district and insurance carriers or third-party vendors. Experience desired:BA in Human Resources or related field and/or formal training in benefits administrationMinimum of two years benefits administration experience; PHR/SPHR certification preferredExperience with federal and state employee benefit laws (COBRA, FMLA, ADA, PPACA)Clear a state criminal record check and a child abuse checkBe a minimum of 18 years oldESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, WITH FREQUENCIES:Oversee daily benefits administration; process enrollments, changes, and terminations for medical, dental, and vision plans; process short term and long-term disability claims; 403(b) enrollments; FMLA requests and approvals, unemployment claims. Lead all activities regarding annual open enrollment.Communicate clearly and effectively; both verbally and in writing when responding to employee questions, creating presentations and/or explaining benefit programs; and when collaborating with third party vendors. Serve as a primary resource for all facets of Human Resource inquiries and questions.Demonstrate professionalism at all times when speaking with employees and benefit vendors; exercise good judgment; effectively collaborate with others in a courteous and honest manner; conduct oneself according to the policies of the District and the Nebraska Board of Education4. There may be other duties assigned to an HR Coordinator by other members of District Administration as part of fulfilling goals that support student learning.Job Duties and Performance Responsibilities:Manage the day-to-day activities of all benefit plans, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, disability insurance, 403(b) plan, unemployment claims, workers compensationOversee the annual open enrollment process, create communications for employeesServe as the EHA Wellness representative for the district; distribute wellness communications as required, maintain the wellness employee databaseUnderstand qualifying life events and what is allowed to change due to the event, completing those changes timelyPossess a general knowledge of all facets of Human Resources in addition to benefits administration, including recruiting, interviewing, personnel conflicts, performance management, and teamworkThorough knowledge of FMLA laws and regulations, respond to questions regarding leave, process FMLA approval letters; obtain additional certification when requiredKnowledge of COBRA regulations; process COBRA events as they occurCoordinates workers compensation claims and is the primary district liaison with the district's third-party workers compensation administratorAssist in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and supervision of support staff, including teacher assistants, custodial staff, maintenance personnel, and substitute teachersProficient with computer skills and using district systems, such as Tyler Tech SchoolERPro, TAS, Google Mail, Absence Management (Frontline) and other computer programs to maintain accurate benefits and personnel records, read and send email, and create and maintain documentsCommunicate clearly and in a professional manner with District administration, vendors and staffMaintain strict confidentiality with employee information and their personal health situationsPossess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and maintain data integrity with regards to employee information and benefits enrollmentLearn to operate new office technologies and software as they are developed and implementedDemonstrate positive attitude, school loyalty, cooperation, teamwork, and safety mindedness on the jobMaintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information, in accordance with the law and District policiesReceives direction from the Personnel Director and assists with special projects as necessaryCheck voicemails daily and return calls promptlyServe as a primary resource to staff for benefit questions and general HR guidanceUse electronic email as a primary source of sending and receiving District communicationCreate and maintain reports and Excel spreadsheets as needed or as requestedMarginal Duties:Attend fall flu clinics; work with the VNA to schedule clinics and district facilities; attend EHA Wellness trainings
