This is a hands-on precision machining position for someone who can work from a print, perform their own setups and inspection, troubleshoot problems, and consistently produce quality work while holding tight tolerances.\nIf you take pride in your craftsmanship, enjoy solving manufacturing challenges, and want to be part of a team where your experience and skill matter, we would like to talk with you.\nWhat You'll Do\nPrecision Grinding\nSet up and operate surface, cylindrical/OD-ID, and/or jig grinding equipment.\nPerform multiple setups and manufacture precision components to blueprint specifications.\nMaintain dimensional accuracy, tight tolerances, and required surface finishes.\nMonitor part quality throughout the manufacturing process and make machine adjustments as necessary.\nTroubleshoot grinding, setup, and dimensional issues.\nPerform in-process dimensional checks and make corrections as needed to maintain required tolerances.\nBlueprint Reading & Inspection\nRead and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing specifications.\nWork with GD&T requirements and tight-tolerance components.\nUse precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.\nVerify finished components meet customer and quality requirements.\nWork with our Lab/Quality Department, which performs required formal and final inspections to verify components meet customer specifications.\nTeam & Manufacturing Support\nWork closely with Production, Quality, and Project Management to resolve manufacturing challenges.\nCommunicate issues that could impact quality, productivity, or delivery.\nContribute ideas that improve machining processes, quality, and efficiency.\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.\nWhat We're Looking For\nThis is a setup-level precision machining position, not a basic machine-tending role. We are looking for someone who understands the entire grinding process and is comfortable taking responsibility for producing a quality finished part.\nQualified candidates should have:\nPrevious precision grinding experience.\nStrong experience setting up and operating at least one of the following:\nSurface grinders\nCylindrical / OD-ID grinders\nJig grinders\nAbility to independently perform machine setups.\nAbility to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing drawings.\nExperience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.\nAbility to consistently work within tight tolerances.\nStrong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.\nA commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.\n5+ years of precision machining or grinding experience is preferred, but demonstrated skill and capability are more important than years of experience alone.\nAdditional Experience We'd Value\nExperience in any of the following is a plus:\nMultiple precision grinding processes\nJob shop manufacturing\nTool-making\nGD&T\nPrecision inspection\nComplex or one-off machining\nTight-tolerance manufacturing\nWhy Kent Machine?\nKent Machine is a precision manufacturing company focused on quality, craftsmanship, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service.\nAs a smaller precision manufacturing company, our machinists have the opportunity to do more than simply run repetitive production.
