Plant Health Inspector The Ohio Department of Agriculture is currently seeking candidates for an ALB Plant Health Inspector, in the Plant Health Division, headquartered in Clermont County. This is an unclassified project employee temporary position that includes some benefits. This position is responsible for conducting/leading inspections for signs of Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) infestation in forests and/or landscapes on public and private properties. Participates in survey progression, regulatory, contractor, and/or data reconciliation meetings. Assures compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding the ALB quarantine and movement of firewood. Monitors contract workers performing inspections for ALB infestation. Gathers, records and reports data in federal and state databases. Ensures quality assurance of field inspections. Prepares reports of findings for all inspections completed. Assists with program planning. Places traps and inspects for box tree moth (BTM) and other plant pests. Maintains and updates manuals provide presentations to specialized audiences. Assists and conducts training to prepare other staff to perform program duties. Works with other local, state and federal agencies as required. Assists management with pesticide treatment planning and application. Conducts inspections of nursery facilities, garden centers, greenhouses, retail stores, producers, and wholesalers of nursery stock. Researches and completes federal phytosanitary forms for exporting agricultural crops.
