Employees in this class are responsible for performing skilled electrical tasks by\nstandard practices of the trade. Work involves installing, maintaining, and repairing cafeteria equipment,\nelectrical systems and controls, and various electrical installations. Work assignments are received orally\nor in writing and may be accompanied by illustrative sketches, diagrams, or blueprints.\nEssential Functions:\nAssembles, installs, and tests electrical fixtures, apparatus, control equipment, and wiring used in lighting, power, and other electrical installations throughout the school system\nInstalls, maintains, and repairs electrically operated cafeteria equipment such as refrigerators, dishwashers, mixers, and ovens; installs, maintains and repairs stage lighting systems and provides technical assistance in the operation of such installations\nInstalls, maintains and repairs a variety of classroom and office lighting, clock, and bell systems\nInstalls, maintains and repairs electrical controls on boilers, furnaces, and electrical motors\nAssists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment. Performs related work as required\nMust maintain a valid driver’s license\nInstalls, maintains and repairs electrical controls on boilers, furnaces, and electrical motor\nAssists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment. Performs related work as required\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nConsiderable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and equipment of the electrical trade\nKnowledge of national and local electrical codes\nKnowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of electrical trade\nAbility to locate, diagnose, and adjust defects in electrical systems and equipment\nAbility to work from sketches, diagrams, and blueprints\nAbility to observe safety precautions in carrying out assigned tasks\nAbility to understand and follow oral and written instructions\nSkill in the use of the standard tools, machines, and equipment of the electrical trade\nExperience:\nMinimum of six years of experience as a journeyman electrician\nEducation:\nGraduation from a general or technical high school\nState of Missouri industrial electrician’s license\nUnion (preferred\nPhysical Requirements:\nMust be physically able to operate a motor vehicle\nMust be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force\nconstantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body\nLight work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree\n\nWorking Conditions and Environment:\nWork is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment\nOccasional outside work may be required on an as-needed basis\nVery limited or no exposure to physical risk\n\nDisclaimer:\nThe information in this job description is for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act\n(ADA) and is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position.
