We call our media relations specialists CONNECTORS because they use their connections to earn attention for our clients. We’re looking for Connector who can help shape stories to stand out among the thousands of pitches reporters receive every day. A tenacious media relations expert who gets excited about using data and our unique Golin tools to determine which journalists will accelerate a story the fastest and furthest.Golin Connectors don’t just reactively wait for ideas to pitch to media – they proactively hunt for opportunities 24/7. On their commute, while scrolling social media, etc. They have their finger on the pulse of cultural moments and real-time trends our clients can leverage, then work with our creatives to turn those ideas into nationally covered media stories. Because we believe the General Media Landscape is not so general anymore, and we’re redefining our entire approach to media relations to reach a profoundly diverse market, that you – yes you – can help us redefine.Responsibilities:Drive media strategy and deliver strategic counsel to clients for all things media Lead media campaigns from start to finish (ideation through execution)Own relationships with national media and new generation of media influencersPitch and secure stories with key top-tier media and media influencersIdentify and capitalize on real-time cultural moments and trending conversationsDevelop and execute opportunistic media strategies that align with breaking news and cultural momentsServe as a key client contact and team lead for all media opportunities Develop story pitches and present to teams, clients, prospectsProofread and edit media content, as neededImmerse self in clients’ industries, brands and past media coverageShare ongoing status updates on progress against campaign goals and client objectives with Connectors and account team Catalysts (Account Management), and clients where appropriateConsume all aspects of media and disseminate news trends to larger teamCollaborate with Catalysts to obtain necessary background, goals, assets, messages and set success metrics and expected resultsEnsure work meets budget requirementsProvide client/spokesperson media training, as neededCollaborate with Catalysts on thought leadership, trend and brand media strategiesWhat You Have:Minimum of 3 years of heavy media relations experienceIdeal candidate will have PR background, agency is a plus Experience working with consumer brands, CPG experience is a plus Demonstrated success in real-time, culture-driven media strategiesTrack record of turning trending moments into earned media winsProven ability to identify and capitalize on opportunistic media momentsStrong presentation skills (clients and new business meetings)Strong relationships with media contacts across wellness, food and beverage, beauty, and consumer publications and outletsEstablished relationships with key media contacts across all mediums (print, broadcast, online, etc.)Experience in leading successful media campaignsBA/BS in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations or related fieldMedia Savvy, Informed, Convincing, Trend Watcher, News JunkieTenacious spirit and demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles in securing coverageSmart, scrappy approach to media relations with a proven hunger for resultsGolin is proud to be an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
