They lead all aspects of a community branch library within a small library system. The manager performs professional, managerial level work under the general direction of the Library Director. They also work as a professional librarian to provide direct public service to the patrons of the service district. Teamwork, communication and personal integrity are essential to the success of this position.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\nServe as a member of the leadership team, supporting initiatives of customer service, collection maintenance and programming.\nAdvocate for library services.\nManage library services, staffing and training for the branch and across the district. Present staff meetings and deliver effective staff communications.\nSupport the Director with Board of Trustees administration including reporting, meeting preparation, minutes documentation and vacancy announcements.\nRespond to patron comments and suggestions. Manage escalated patron needs.\nSupport staff in carrying out Colorado library laws and regulations.\nGuide staff to deliver excellent customer service using documented procedures.\nParticipate in the recruitment and selection of staff. Work with assigned staff in evaluation, recognition and accountability.\nOversee branch projects such as renovation, repair, capital improvement and new construction. Oversee branch maintenance service work.\nEnsure safe conditions for staff, public, and building operation. Take appropriate action in building and systems emergencies.\nAdminister facility systems for alarm, security, elevator, telephone, automatic doors, knox box and keys as well as manage malfunction solutions.\nTake ownership of branch appearance including signage, flyers, furniture arrangement and material displays.\nFollow policies and procedures for the library’s financial management, including budgeting, procurement, contracts and reimbursement for assigned financial line items. Develop a multi-year strategy for those assignments.\nMaintain facility supplies and equipment with appropriate inventory levels.\n\nCompetency:\n\nAdvanced knowledge of project management and strategy implementation.\nAdvanced knowledge of library services and programs.\nAbility to direct the work of others to achieve District objectives.\nEffectively represent the District with government and community leaders.\nExpert in customer service and information literacy.\nExcellent communication, presentation and technology skills.\nRequirements:\n\nSupervisory responsibilities: Direct supervision of 2-4 librarians, indirect supervision of 5-10 staff and/or volunteers. Required education and experience:\n\nCompletion of a Master of Library and Information Science degree from an American Library Association accredited institution required.\nThree years of professional public library work experience required.\nSupervisory experience preferred.\nExperience developing collaborations and partnerships preferred .\n\nAdditional eligibility qualifications: NONENon-essential functions:\n\nDevelop and deliver training sessions to staff in their area of expertise.\nAssume responsibility for library operations in the absence of the Director.\nParticipate in professional development opportunities.\nSupport staff in outreach service procedures and provide standard library services during outreach events, including bookmobile operations.\n\nWork Environment: Inside management role, with occasional outside assignments. Regular interaction with other staff and the public. Operates phones, computers and office equipment as well as troubleshooting solutions if they malfunction.Hours of Work: Salary, Exempt Full-Time The schedule requires one evening shift per week and one weekend shift per month.Benefits: This position is eligible for benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation, sick and holiday time off, retirement match, bilingual pay incentive and wellness programs.Physical demands: Light physical effort in carrying and shelving books.
