Accounting Manager
The Client Advisory Services Accounting Manager plays a critical leadership role within the CAS department, overseeing advanced accounting engagements while serving as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients. This position is responsible for delivering high quality financial reporting, leading and developing team members, and ensuring firm processes, workflows, and service standards are consistently met. This role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, people leadership, and client relationship management.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential key competency function satisfactorily. This may be substituted with equivalent years of experience and continued education in some cases.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESAct as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, maintaining a professional, responsive, and solution-oriented communication styleTake full ownership of client relationships by proactively managing expectations, anticipating needs, and delivering timely serviceLead client meetings and present financial information clearly, addressing complex accounting and business questions with confidenceMaintain strict standards of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism across all engagementsIdentify opportunities to expand services with existing clients and support business development effortsReview advanced accounting work, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and supporting schedulesReview financial statements and accounting workpapers for accuracy and completeness in accordance with GAAP or other applicable frameworksOversee accounting engagements, ensuring quality control and timely deliverable.Provide technical guidance and assist with the resolution of complex accounting issuesStay current on accounting standards, regulatory updates, and emerging technologiesSupervise, mentor, coach staff and senior accountants within CASLead scheduling and workflow meetings to ensure effective staff utilization and on time client deliveryOversee firm processes and procedures to ensure workflows are followed and deadlines are metProvide regular feedback, support professional development, and participate in performance evaluations and the mentoring programLead and participate in internal training and contribute to the development of training materialsModel professionalism, technical excellence, and firm values through daily conductParticipate in manager meetings, and firm committeesAssist with client onboarding, proposal development, and engagement scopingManage billing and accounts receivable for assigned clientsKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:To perform this role successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field requiredCPA license is preferred4-6 + years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in public accountingStrong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of GAAPDemonstrated ability to manage multiple clients and competing deadlinesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and professional judgmentAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentCommitment to confidentiality and ethical standardsAbility to develop specialized knowledge in one or more industriesExperience with accounting and practice management software, including QuickBooks Desktop and Online, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Gusto, CCH Engagement, CCH Workstream, Axcess Tax, Adobe Acrobat, and related platformsStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly ExcelProven ability to mentor, train, and collaborate effectively with staff
