Payroll AccountantAbout the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team. This position is responsible for processing multi-state payroll for approximately 400 employees while supporting accounting operations, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate combines strong payroll expertise with a solid accounting foundation and thrives in a fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess semi-monthly payroll for approximately 400 employees, including exempt and non-exempt staff.Calculate and administer commission and bonus payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Prepare final paychecks, year-end payroll adjustments, and other special payroll transactions.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and wage laws.Reconcile payroll-related accounts and investigate discrepancies.Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.Support employee expense reporting and reimbursement processes.Collaborate with Human Resources and Finance to maintain accurate payroll and employee records.Maintain confidentiality of payroll, compensation, and financial information.Assist with general accounting and bookkeeping functions as needed.QualificationsAssociate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state environment.Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations and state payroll compliance requirements.Experience with payroll systems such as UKG, ADP, Paycom, Workday, or similar platforms.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.Prior accounting, bookkeeping, or general ledger experience is a plus.This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional looking to expand their accounting experience while playing a key role in both payroll and finance operations.
