Glass CutterPosition Overview A Glass Cutter's role is to cut quality glass essential to the production of glass units for the manufacturing of glass windows and doors while strategically adjusting jobs to obtain the highest yield from the glass they cut for each job and repair.Division: CommercialDepartment: Glass CuttersReports toGlass Production SupervisorJob TypeFull-timeFLSA: Non-ExemptShift: M-F, 6am to 2:30pm. Duties and ResponsibilitiesInspect glass for quality defects or needed repairsLoad and cut glass for the days production for both tempered and annealed glass unitsLoad batches in computer to be cut with maximum yield in mindAccurately read monitor for snap locationsPerform safe snaps and breaks of each glass paneAccurately move glass to proper carts and slotsLook for and slot in any precut glass as neededSafely discard scrap glassCommunicate repairs to all necessary departmentsAssist in changing racks of glass as needed for productionChange cutting wheels that score the glass for a controlled breaking pointProduce daily cut numbers and report daily on outputConduct daily cleaning and proper housekeeping of assigned areaPerform daily, weekly and monthly required maintenancePrompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.Review and analyze data and information concerning glass order paperwork.Plan, prioritize and monitor cutting activities.Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.Supervisory ResponsibilityNo direct management or supervisory responsibilities.SafetyObserve safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment); report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. Follow job-specific safety requirements that includes wearing the following PPE:Steel or composite toed footwear.Safety glasses or approved prescription safety glasses.Cut proof 5 or greater gloves.Safety shirtLeather Apron TravelNo travel is required.Qualifications An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours.
