City of Dayton IT Desktop Analyst

Purpose: This position is responsible for providing IT setup, analysis, maintenance and technical support of workstations, printers and peripheral devices connected to the City LAN and Wi-Fi, using the Microsoft Operating System and a variety of application software. The IT Desktop Analyst aids and trains in the use of computer and peripheral equipment to end users helping to maintain the integrity of the City’s Information Systems. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience in computer operations or in providing technical computer support. OR Associate’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience in computer operations or in providing technical computer support. OR High School Diploma or G.E.D. and minimum of five (5) years of experience in computer operations or in providing technical computer support. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain as a condition of employment. Must possess a minimum of one (1) of the below listed certifications at the time of application. Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security + HDI- Desktop Advanced Support Technician ITIL Foundation Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned): The incumbent will participate in the selection of packaged software and determining hardware specifications necessary for implementation. The incumbent makes modifications to desktop systems as dictated by changing user needs and keeps the total system in sound operating condition by investigating the impact proposed changes will have on the system as a whole. The incumbent will work in conjunction with other appropriate IT staff members in developing and carrying out standards that keep the City of Dayton network secure. The incumbent is responsible for installation of all desktop units and peripherals including software and printers. The incumbent will assist and train customers on products as a standard operation from wall (active network jacks) to the desktop, including printers (responsible for printer administration from the server to the printer) and all peripherals. The incumbent recommends any changes in standard equipment used in the department and the recommended software to ensure that any hardware purchased is within the standards established by the department or division. The incumbent shall maintain endpoint device inventory (including desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, etc.), utilize desktop client management tools such as Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager, Intune, and/or Workspace ONE to deploy packages and maintain virus protection on endpoint devices. The Incumbent also works with staff to develop standards for desktop and other endpoint devices and updates them annually. They will also maintain and support mobile devices used by the department. The incumbent may also work with the Electronic Controls Engineer as needed to deploy and support endpoint devices in the SCADA/OT Network. The incumbent is on call for maintaining uptime to after-hours users on a twenty-four hour a day, seven days a week, year-round rotation list. The incumbents are the face that the customer sees and depends on to keep equipment running smoothly.
