Job Title: Elementary Instruction and Intervention SpecialistReports to: Director of Special EducationDept./School: Special Education DepartmentExemption Status: Exempt / 197 daysDate Revised: 1/9/2025Salary calculations will be commensurate with job experience.Primary Purpose:The Elementary Instruction & Intervention Specialist is responsible for coordinating databased educational programs for students in grades K through 6 who require special education services to benefit from general education classroom programs.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Master's Degree in Education or closely related field from an accredited college or universityrecognized by the US Department of Education preferredTexas Teaching Certification with required Special Education endorsementSpecial Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations for students with disabilitiesKnowledge of general education curriculumKnowledge and understanding of Response to Intervention (RtI)Knowledge and understanding of the expectations of STAAR assessment and strategies for promotion of student successKnowledge of inclusive practices combined with general education curriculumSkill in organizing/interpreting/analyzing data and applying concepts to resolve problems and develop solutionsSkill in team buildingAbility to plan and provide prescriptive instruction aligned to district and campus goalsAbility to organize and manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and independently to meet deadlinesAbility to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive informationAbility to communicate effectively verbally and written utilizing tact and maintain effectiveworking relationships with district personnel and campus administrationExperience:Three years special education experience overseeing related programs and services with experience in general education and special education setting preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Curriculum Development:1. Assessment, staff development, writing, implementing, coordinating, monitoring of district's curriculum; providing district-wide staff development and assistance to campuses; support teachers with IEP development, data collection, and other instructional & functional duties.2. Collaborates between campus MTSS Coaches, Instruction, Technology, and Special Education to support and promote students with disabilities in the general education setting.3. Implements District academic programming.4. Participate in campus staffing and ARD meetings as necessary.5. Participate/facilitate department and team meetings.6. Attend monthly special education staff meetings.Instructional Leadership and Program Management:7. Providing leadership, management, technical assistance and vision to campus personnel including teachers, principals, support personnel, central administrators, and district-level committees.8. Monitor and assist in the development of inclusive practices supporting students and campuses.9. Facilitate meetings with campus personnel regarding access to the general education curriculum for students demonstrating complex needs.Compliance and Accountability:10. Assuring the enforcement of federal and state laws, local Board of Trustees' policies, grant specifications, and personnel qualifications and certifications.11. Prepare for and participate in mediations and hearings.12. Participate in risk analysis of student cases involving parent complaints.13. Serve as compliance contact for monitoring of assigned campuses.14. Monitor and develop processes and programs to ensure compliance with the least restrictive environment.School/Organizational Climate:15. Attend professional growth activities to maintain awareness of current research and issues in mathematics, assessment, teacher education, professional development at the state level, including technology integrations.24. Promotes a positive image that supports the mission of the district; works with all Curriculum & Instruction personnel to continually improve the professionalism of the total department.25.
