Job DescriptionGeneral SummaryUnder the supervision of the Manager of Analytics, the Senior Data Modeler works with analysts, developers, business partners, and data stewards in a fast-paced delivery environment for data and analytics. The Senior Data Modeler is responsible for designing, building, and governing enterprise-grade logical and physical data models that power analytics, reporting, and machine-learning–ready datasets within our Snowflake ecosystem. This role serves as a bridge between Business Architecture, Data Engineering, and Analytics, translating complex business requirements into well-structured, performant, and governed data assets. The Senior Data Modeler has deep experience with dimensional modeling, modern cloud data platforms, data governance frameworks, and business intelligence solutions.Principal Duties And ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain enterprise logical and physical data models in Snowflake using dimensional modeling, Data Vault 2.0, and medallion architecture patternsTranslate business requirements, user stories, and source system analysis into well-governed, performant data models that support analytics, reporting, and AI/ML workloadsPartner with data engineers, analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to define and evolve the enterprise data architectureDefine and enforce data modeling standards, naming conventions, and design patterns across the analytics platformMaintain a centralized data dictionary, and semantic layer definitions in coordination with data stewardsCollaborate with the data governance team to classify data assets, document lineage, and ensure PII/PHI compliance within model designsPerform advanced data profiling, analysis, and reconciliation to validate model accuracy and completenessOptimize data model designs for query performance, storage efficiency, and scalability within SnowflakeSupport operational excellence through version-controlled model deployments and CI/CD practicesParticipate in Agile ceremonies including model design reviews, Sprint Reviews/Commitments, and Sprint planningExperienceBachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, Mathematics, or related field6+ years of professional experience in data modeling within data warehouse, big data, and analytics environmentsDeep expertise with Kimball dimensional modeling methodology including star and snowflake schema designs3+ years of hands-on experience modeling in Snowflake or comparable cloud data platformsStrong proficiency with model transformation, testing, and documentationExperience with data modeling tools such as ER/Studio, ERwin, SqlDBM, or similarAdvanced SQL development skills including complex CTEs, window functions, and performance tuningWorking knowledge of Data Vault 2.0 and medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) patternsFamiliarity with data governance tooling such as Microsoft Purview, Alation, or Collibra for lineage, classification, and metadata managementThorough understanding of systems analysis and design, SDLC, and Agile delivery practicesAbility to analyze complex source systems and translate them into well-structured analytical models with minimal supervisionStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailExcellent communication skills with the ability to present technical designs to both technical and non-technical audiencesExperience with CI/CD (Azure DevOps preferred), version control (Git), and automated deployment frameworksPrior work in fintech, risk analytics, consumer lending, or highly regulated environments is strongly preferredSkills And AbilitiesAbility to effectively communicate with business users to understand business processes and translate them into logical data structuresHighly proficient in analyzing business objectives, requirements, and source data to inform model design decisionsSkills in design and documentation of scalable, governed data models that support analytics, operational insights, and machine learningAbility to design and maintain enterprise data architectures aligned with business architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman)Experience with data integration patterns including ELT, CDC, and streaming ingestion as they relate to model designHighly proficient in SQL and comfortable with Python or other scripting languages for data profiling and validationAbility to analyze business and system processes to support solution development and data product designUnderstanding and ability to manage through enterprise-wide project/solution impacts, issues, and risksAbility to manage across company teams to ensure collaboration in support of high-quality data assetsFamiliarity with semantic layer technologies and metrics layer patterns for governed self-service analyticsStrong verbal and written communication and presentation skillsAdvanced experience with data modeling and diagramming tools (ER/Studio, ERwin, SqlDBM, Visio).
