The company is developing a repeatable building product, with opportunities to improve its structural systems as the product evolves.The Structural Engineer will design foundations, light-frame wood systems, and architectural steel components while supporting permitting, manufacturing, and construction. You'll work closely with Architecture, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and field teams to develop coordinated designs and resolve issues throughout execution.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and document foundations and other structural elements for individual projects within a repeatable building system.Develop structural designs for light-frame wood systems and architectural steel components, including stairs and canopies.Produce and coordinate structural permit and construction documents across multiple projects, with the potential to manage up to 10 projects concurrently.Coordinate with architects and engineers to ensure designs are complete, constructable, and aligned across disciplines.Consider manufacturing, transportation, and assembly requirements when developing structural solutions.Conduct site observations, review submittals, and respond to manufacturing and construction RFIs.Work with Manufacturing, Procurement, Design, and field teams to resolve technical questions and improve constructability.Develop engineering tools, documentation standards, and processes that improve consistency and reduce design and documentation time.Incorporate lessons from manufacturing and field execution into future designs and product improvements.What We're Looking ForAn active California Civil Professional Engineer license.Minimum of 8 years of experience designing light-frame wood systems, architectural steel components, and foundations.Strong technical judgment and the ability to solve unfamiliar or unconventional structural engineering problems.Experience with BIM systems such as Revit.Experience developing tools and processes for an engineering team.Strong attention to detail and the ability to understand how building components fit together.Ability to collaborate across architecture, engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and site operations.Interest in continuous improvement and developing structural solutions that can be used and refined across multiple projects.Ability to visit Bay Area project sites frequently and the Sacramento manufacturing facility occasionally.Why This RoleThis is a good opportunity for a structural engineer who wants to stay involved as designs move through manufacturing, installation, and construction.You'll see how engineering decisions affect the people building the product and use that feedback to improve future designs.
