Job Title: 26/27- Instructional Coach (ELAR/Social Studies)Exemption Status/Test: Exempt/ProfessionalReports to: PrincipalDate Revised: 4/17/2026Dept./School: Splendora Junior HighPrimary PurposeProvides coaching and support to classroom teachers to ensure the continuous development of instructional skills among assigned teachers.Qualifications Education/Certification:Master's degree from accredited universityValid Texas teaching certificateSpecial Knowledge/SkillsKnowledge of curriculum design and implementationAbility to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectivenessAbility to develop and deliver training to adult learnersStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperience5 years teaching experience in subject area assigned preferred.Major Responsibilities And DutiesStaff DevelopmentWork collaboratively with assigned classroom teachers to establish realistic and measureable objectives related to both the teacher's individual professional development and student learning.Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through coaching and collaborative problem solving.Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom.Evaluate teacher effectiveness in accordance with established district programs.Plan and provide appropriate staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff.Instructional and Program ManagementWork with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.Develop curricular or behavioral support materials as needed.Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in area assigned.CommunicationEstablish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with students, colleagues, and community members.Professional Growth and DevelopmentParticipate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for teachers.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.OtherCompile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Other duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDirect the work of assigned instructional aide(s).Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsTools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipmentPosture: Prolonged sitting; occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipmentEnvironment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise; frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travelMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hoursOther InformationThe District contributes $330 monthly toward the cost of the employee-only health insurance, which is $105 more than the state-required amount of $225/month.
