This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with process improvement and collaboration across the business. Working closely with the President and our fractional CFO, you'll help ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong accounting practices, and support informed business decisions. As we continue to grow, you'll have the opportunity to strengthen our accounting processes while helping build the future of our finance function. This position supports a planned transition within the accounting department; depending on business needs and staffing levels, the Controller may initially perform certain day-to-day accounting functions, including accounting transaction processing and data entry, until additional accounting support is added. We're looking for someone who enjoys being part of the team, takes pride in producing accurate work, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves when needed.\r\nWhat You'll Do\r\nLead the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.\r\nPrepare monthly and annual financial statements and supporting reports.\r\nManage the month-end and year-end close process.\r\nMaintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.\r\nCoordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax professionals.\r\nMaintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.\r\nMonitor project accounting, job costing, and work-in-progress reporting.\r\nAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting in partnership with the President and fractional CFO.\r\nSupport improvements to accounting systems, reporting, and processes.\r\nSupervise and develop accounting staff.\r\nPerform accounting transaction processing and data entry as needed.\r\nWhat You'll Bring\r\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\r\nSeven or more years of progressive accounting experience.\r\nCPA designation is preferred.\r\nExperience in engineering, manufacturing, construction, or another project-based business is a plus.\r\nStrong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.\r\nExperience with accounting or ERP software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.\r\nA hands-on approach and willingness to jump in where needed.\r\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\r\nExcellent communication and relationship-building skills.\r\nA commitment to accuracy, integrity, continuous improvement, and teamwork.\r\nWhy Goshen Engineering?\r\nAt Goshen Engineering, you'll join a growing company where your work matters.
