The salary Range for this position is $65-72k
We offer a hybrid workplace with three days onsite in our corporate office-Tuesday through Thursday in Waitsfield, VT or Andover, MA
What you'll be doing:
The Accountant is responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role works closely with the accounting team and cross-functional partners to maintain compliance with GAAP, improve processes, and support audits. Please be detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations (manage the account reconciliation process)
Analyze financial data and investigate variances against budget and prior periods
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Record cash entries and prepare bank reconciliations
Develop an understanding of the business and forge strong relationships with the manufacturing sites and other departments
Owner of the freight accrual, prepaid expenses schedules, and certain AR entries
Serve as backup AP as it relates to matching purchase orders; assist with coding invoices for specific vendors
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to inquiries
Work closely with Finance in compiling and cross-checking departmental budgets
Responsible for the management, accounting and reconciliation of grants
Manage the lease accounting setup, monthly accounting, reconciliation and compliance
Review and approving employee expenses in Certify
Manage sales and use tax exemption as well as credit reference requests
Drive process improvements to streamline the flow of information within the department and across the company's sites
What we are seeking
Required/Preferred - BS Accounting or Finance
Work Experience - 5+ years of progressive experience
Practical/Technical Knowledge
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative mindset
Organized, strong work ethic and detail-oriented
Passionate with an ability to identify opportunities to streamline processes
Strong knowledge of Excel
Desire to learn the fundamentals of the industry and take on new challenges
Ability to work independently and multi-task in a flexible, fast-paced environment
JD Edwards experience a plus
Systems conversion experience a plus
