Spring Branch Independent School DistrictJob DescriptionLocksmithJob Title:LocksmithReports To:Energy/Low Voltage Systems ManagerClassification:Auxiliary (Skilled Labor)Wage/Hour Status:Non-exemptDays:250Salary:See Compensation Plan for Auxiliary Staff, Pay Grade 308Contract:NoneDate Revised:11/15/2023Primary Purpose:Maintain the locks and hardware on all facilities in a condition which fosters a safe and secure environment.Qualifications/Skills:Education/CertificationHigh school diploma or equivalent and technical school.Special Knowledge/SkillsAbility to cut and issue keys, re-key, install and repair locks and hardwareAbility to install, troubleshoot, and repair both mechanical locking and electronic access control devicesAbility to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.Skill in utilizing building security and lock systems and procedures.Maintain Inventory and good record keepingAbility to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.Ability to communicate effectively.ExperienceMinimum seven (7) years' experience required.Major Duties andResponsibilitiesMaintenance and Repair:Install, repair and maintain locks, exit devices, closers, file cabinets, chairs, casters and other hardware.Re-key locks and cut keys as to masters, sub-masters, area masters, individual locks, etc. Stamps with identificationCreate master key schedule for new buildings and re-key existing facilities using blueprints and hardware specification packages.Installs and repairs door hardware and hydraulic closing fixtures.Maintains records of work performedAssist supervisor in coordinating the proper hardware to comply with all building codes and District master key systems.SafetyAssist foreman in obtaining hardware for lock shop, carpenter shop and planning and Construction, to comply with ADA, life safety and fire codes.Perform inspections of new construction and renovations of facilities to ensure proper installation of hardware and compliance with ADA, life safety and fire codes.OtherComplete daily man-hour logs and other required documentation, perform Preventive Maintenance, perform well in a crew environment and maintain an inventory and itemize costs on each job.Act as Project Lead when asked to do so and safely operate and maintain equipment.Perform other duties as assigned.SupervisoryResponsibilities:NoneEquipment Used:Ladder, locks (manual and electrical), fastening devices, control systems, keys, hand and power tools.Working Conditions:Mental DemandsMaintain emotional control under stress.Work with frequent interruptions.This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.Physical DemandsContinual standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing (ladder), moderate lifting and carrying.Environmental FactorsModerate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.Application Procedure:Click Apply then Login.
