The focus of this role is to maintain network infrastructure across multiple environments. This includes firewalls, switches, routers, Access Points and Controllers across several manufactures (ex: Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, Foritnet, etc). This role will be responsible for resolving production issues, working with managed customers to maintain a highly available environment and supporting other engineering tasks.They identify and resolve system performance and security issues, ensuring alignment with industry best practices. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, they integrate robust networking solutions into operational and development processes.General ResponsibilitiesPeople are the most important part of GMI and the reason we are successful. The Network Engineer will:Work directly with the internal engagement lead and clients to review sold projects prerequisites, review and gather requirements, develop and deliver solutionsReview expectations committed to during the sales process, understand and manage any changes in expectations and manage them throughout the engagement, communicate and resolve exceptions with leadershipContinuously improve our work product and process through project execution experienceResponsibilitiesTechnology expertise is why our customers trust GMI. The Network Engineer will be responsible for:Monitor network infrastructure using tools such as Auvik, PRTG, Nagios, or similar platforms to detect performance issues, outages, and anomaliesRespond to and troubleshoot network incidents and service requests following established procedures and runbooksPerform initial diagnosis of network connectivity, hardware, and performance problemsPerform configuration, installation, and setup of network devices including routers, switches, wireless access points, and firewalls (under supervision)Execute routine maintenance tasks: firmware/patch updates, backup configurations, cable management, and device rebootsDocument incidents, resolutions, and network changes in the ticketing systemPerform IP address management, VLAN assignments, and DNS/DHCP supportSupport end-user connectivity issues (wired/wireless) and VPN troubleshootingCollaborate with senior engineers during implementations, upgrades, and projectsMaintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and asset inventoryQualificationsEducationAssociates or Bachelor's degree in CS, Math, Engineering, MIS, CIS or related field is preferred, but not required.Relevant industry certifications (Network+ - Highly Preferred, CCNA ' Strong Plus)Technical SkillsBasic understanding of routing protocols (static, OSPF, BGP basics), switching (STP, EtherChannel), and wireless networking (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, etc.)Exposure to firewalls, VPNs, or SD-WAN concepts (Cisco ASA/Firepower, Palo Alto, Fortinet, etc.)Experience with network monitoring tools and ticketing systemsEndpoint Administration (Windows ' Required, Linux ' Preferred)Knowledge And ExperienceA minimum of 1-2 years in relevant consulting/engineering rolesAccountable self-starter with strong organizational and interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholdersExcellent time management, prioritization, problem solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced, agile environmentProblem-solving and team management skills with a focus on delivering high-quality results.Must be located in the US and able to get fingerprint clearance to work with state entities.Additional InformationWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computerAbility to sit at a computer terminal for an extended periodLight to moderate lifting is requiredReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions
