The Material Handler is responsible for housekeeping and safety in his work environment.Key Accountabilities/Essential Functions:1. Operate a Lift Truck with various attachments.2. Maintain assigned lift truck, including changing batteries.3. Follow instructions from supervision, either via the two-way radio or written schedule from the load/work assignment sheet.4. Ensure all material is received into the warehouse without damage.5. Report any accidents immediately to supervision.6. Store incoming goods within the warehouse in the correct location.7. Properly fill out all reports and forms required.8. Read, understand and follow Process Maps, work instructions.9. Physically control the movement and loading of manufactured rolls of paper.10. Understand and comply with departmental and job specific safety rules, as well as the Site Safety Plan. Comply with all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures. Correct or identify any unsafe act or conditions to supervision.11. Understand and comply with ADC spill containment guidelines.12. Responsible for reporting any mechanical defective parts or malfunctions to supervision. Communicate daily process related problems to supervision and at shift change.13. Understand maintenance requirements of lift trucks.14. Allocate finished goods to orders and re-labeling if necessary.15. Locate rolls and transport them to the back of the proper machine.Education, Technical Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:\r\nHigh school\r\nBasic Math skills\r\nRead and write English\r\n2/3 Years as Material Handler II and\r\nOne year as Material Handler III is preferred\r\nMust be able to work with work with minimal supervision.\r\nMust be able to operate hand-held RF scanners and be aware of packaging problems.\r\nMust have knowledge of various types of load bracing for all types of shipments.\r\nMust have leadership skills and able to work with minimal supervision.\r\nMust be able to upgrade job skills through participation in periodic training programs as available.\r\nProvide on the job training for crewmembers.\r\nMust be physically and mentally able to perform similar job functions in other areas.\r\nMust be computer literate.\r\nAbility to utilize ASSIST.\r\nUtilization of CarelMill for inquiry, shop order receipts and allocations.\r\nUnderstand and comply with ADC spill containment guidelines.\r\nMust be able to make minor repairs to equipment when instructed by supervision.\r\nMust have knowledge of Ahlstrom Information Security policies and is for his/her own part responsible for ensuring information security when handling information and maintaining or using information systems or information networks\r\nThis position is additionally responsible as part of the manufacturing flexibility program to cross-train and be fully qualified to work in an at least one other alternate position within the manufacturing operation.Physical Demands:\r\nMust be able to handle up to 50 lbs. and complete tasks that require difficult positioning.\r\nMust constantly be alert.\r\nMust be able to work in severely fluctuating temperatures.\r\nVision tested minimum requirements is corrected to 20/40 far vision and 20/30 near vision.\r\nExposure to dust, vibration, chemical, temperature variation and sharp cutting equipment.\r\nProtective equipment is required.\r\nAbility to work carefully around potentially dangerous machinery.\r\nMust be physically able to operate a lift truck.\r\nPerform other jobs as instructed by supervision.Ahlstrom is a global leader in combining fibers into sustainable specialty materials.
