Visit peraton.com to learn how we’re keeping people around the world safe and secure.\n\nAbout The Role\n\nPeraton is currently seeking to hire a Junior Systems Engineer for its' Federal Strategic Cyber program.\n\nLocation: Washington, DC\n\nIn this role, you will:\n\nSupport the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems across the program’s infrastructure.\nPossess hands‑on experience working in Linux environments along with practical familiarity using OpenWRT‑based systems.\nApply strong technical problem‑solving skills and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.\nAssist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems and network devices.\nSupport troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for system issues.\nImplement updates, patches, and configuration changes.\nMaintain documentation and configuration records.\nCollaborate with senior engineers on technical tasks and project deliverables.\n\nQualifications\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelors degree and minimum of 3 years of experience in systems engineering, IT operations, or a related technical field. An additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of the bachelors degree.\nProficiency with Linux (administration, command‑line operations, configuration).\nWorking familiarity with OpenWRT (router firmware, configuration, network setup, package management).\nUnderstanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls).\nU.S. citizenship required.\nActive TS/SCI security clearance.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience with scripting (Bash, Python).\nExposure to embedded systems or network appliances.\nFamiliarity with Git or other version‑control tools.\nDetails\n\nTarget Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
