Optometric Assistant

Job Description We are a medically oriented private optometry practice seeking a full-time or part-time Optometric Assistant, with full-time preferred. Experience in eye care or health care is welcome but is not required, and we are happy to train the right candidate. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term eye care career in a supportive, patient-focused environment. Openings at Optometric Assistant I (entry level) or Optometric Assistant II level. The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, eager to learn, detail-oriented, and committed to providing excellent patient care while working collaboratively with the team.Responsibilities· Answer phones and schedule patient appointments.· Verify patient insurance information.· Complete data entry and clerical tasks in electronic medical records software.· Order eyewear.· Perform preliminary testing, including auto refraction, NCT, and lensometry.· Administer certain diagnostic tests under the doctor’s supervision.· Maintain office cleanliness.· Provide patient contact lens education and training.· Complete other duties assigned by the director.· For Optometric Assistant II, demonstrate proficiency and the ability to conduct certain projects with independence. Job Type: Full-time, 35–40 hrs per weekCompensation and Benefits· Pay: $18.00–$23.00 per hour· Paid leave· Employee vision discount· 401(k) or equivalent retirement plan· Incetives applied to the Assitant at level 2 · Additional benefits available after 12 months of employment.·Total compensation for qualified staff will be no less than $38,500 in the first year.  Qualifications· High school diploma required; associate degree preferred· New graduates are encouraged to apply· One year of health care experience is preferred· Reliable transportation and a dependable commute to workCompany DescriptionOur practice offers full-scope optometry services, including diagnosis and treatment or co-management of common eye diseases, routine eye exams, contact lens fittings, and dispensing contact lens and eyewear.
