Accounts Payable Associate / Accounting Assistant
Location: Must reside within commuting distance of Flagstaff, Green Valley, Sierra Vista, or Tucson, AZReports To: ControllerAbout the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Payable Associate / Accounting Assistant to join our accounting team. This role is key to ensuring the accurate and timely processing of company liabilities, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and supporting broader accounting operations. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, meticulous with financial details, and committed to upholding security and compliance standards.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable: Accurately process and record the company’s liabilities, ensuring all entries and payments are timely and properly assigned to the correct location.Documentation & Records: Maintain clear, complete records with proper supporting documentation for all transactions.Vendor & Credit Card Management: Oversee the company’s credit card program (with Controller approval) and maintain vendor payment platforms.Compliance & Reporting: Complete sales tax returns and personal property statements in accordance with regulatory requirements.Cash Applications & Support: Assist Portfolio Accountants with applying cash receipts and performing light bookkeeping duties.Confidentiality & Controls: Adhere to best practices for handling sensitive financial information while ensuring strong internal controls, security, and data integrity.Team Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and business partners while supporting a culture of accountability and accuracy.QualificationsPrevious experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or a related accounting role.High attention to detail and organizational skills.Familiarity with vendor payment platforms and credit card program management a plus.Working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel proficiency preferred).Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Why Join Us?Wick Communications, a family-owned media company, operates digital publications, newspapers, and specialty magazines across 10 Western states, from Alaska to Minnesota.This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative accounting team where accuracy and efficiency are valued.
