Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.\nTo help achieve these efforts, Stratolaunch is seeking a level II or Sr-level Avionics Engineer to support design, integration, testing, and maintenance of hypersonic, air-launched vehicle electrical and avionics systems. The avionics system is critical to mission success and interfaces with every subsystem, therefore this position will include collaborating with other system owners to understand requirements and engineer solutions. You must be comfortable receiving direction and guidance from lead avionics engineers with component/system development, system analysis, design for manufacturing, hardware integration, and system-level testing, and taking ownership of your responsibilities.\nESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES\nArchitect, design, analyze, integrate, and test avionics and electrical systems\nMaintain configuration control over major avionics system elements including wiring diagrams, 3D CAD, work orders, etc.\nCoordinate with other subsystem leads to develop requirements, test plans, and procedures\nCoordinate with engineers across a broad spectrum of disciplines to understand requirements and engineer technical solutions\nPerform analysis to gauge system design adequacy and performance to meet program requirements\nCreate presentations and support design reviews throughout vehicle development\nSupport ground and/or flight test, as required\nEvaluate risks and risk mitigation plans to determine if the risks and mitigations are appropriate\nRegular and comprehensive communication to the Avionics Lead on a weekly and monthly basis\nDemonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments\n\nQUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nRequired Qualifications:\nKnowledge of, and experience with, one or more of these disciplines: electrical engineering, avionics, electronics, software development, circuit design experience, experimental aircraft and/or launch vehicle integration\nExperience integrating launch vehicle or aircraft electrical power systems\nExperience with troubleshooting Ethernet networks\nExperience with data acquisition and instrumentation (thermocouples, accelerometers, strain)\nExperience creating wiring diagrams and/or circuit schematics\nExperience with flight vehicle troubleshooting and modifications\nExperience with electrical design analysis such as power budgets, thermal analysis, or RF budgets\nExperience with system analysis, such as telemetry bandwidth and/or telemetry link margin\nKnowledge of environmental testing (vibration, thermal, shock)\nExcellent written & verbal communication\nAbility to quickly adapt to changing priorities\nAbility to work on their own initiative and prioritize tasking to fit within the business goals\nAbility to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the SECRET or above level\nRequired Computer Skills:\nExperience in C/C++, Python, XML\nMS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with complex payload and/or guided systems\nExperience integrating a high Mach or hypersonic system onto a military platform\nExperience with architecting Avionics and Data Acquisition systems for experimental vehicles\nExperience with IEEE 802.3 networking standards and IRIG-106 telemetry standards\nExperience with PCB design, bring-up, and integration\nExperience with being on a Mission Control Center console during flight operations\nActive TS/SCI security clearance\n\nPreferred Computer Skills:\nSiemens Capital/Mentor Graphics\nMatlab\nLabview\nFamiliarity with configuration management systems – JIRA, JAMA, Confluence, or equivalent\nFamiliarity with Git source code management\nEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE\nLevel II ($101,100-$146,500): Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 2-5 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience\nSr Level ($120,500-$158,000): Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 5-10 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience\n\nSpecial remarks regarding work environment, if applicable\nPosition based in Mojave, CA\nTravel, as needed, to support the department.
