This role works within an integrated multidisciplinary design team to develop telecommunications systems for large-scale facilities.About the RoleThe Telecommunications Design Engineer will own the telecommunications scope for major projects and work closely with architects, engineers, design professionals, construction teams, and clients.The engineer will develop coordinated telecommunications design packages using AutoCAD and Revit MEP, supporting both 3D BIM delivery and traditional construction documentation.ResponsibilitiesLead telecommunications design activities for large and complex semiconductor and data center projects.Own the telecommunications scope throughout the project design lifecycle.Develop coordinated telecommunications design packages using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.Design Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications infrastructure.Design inter-building and intra-building backbone distribution systems.Develop communication room layouts and rack elevations.Design wired and wireless device plans.Develop cable schedules and telecommunications documentation.Coordinate telecommunications designs with architectural, electrical, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines.Work directly with clients to understand requirements and develop appropriate telecommunications solutions.Prepare 3D BIM models, 2D drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.Ensure designs comply with NEC, TIA standards, BICSI practices, and applicable project requirements.Support design calculations and technical documentation.Lead and coordinate telecommunications design team activities.Assist with project estimating and scheduling for small to medium-sized projects.Support construction specifications and design coordination throughout project delivery.Required QualificationsTwo-year technical degree or four-year non-technical degree.4+ years of experience in telecommunications design and construction.Working knowledge of TIA standards and BICSI design practices.Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements.Experience leading a telecommunications design team.Knowledge of telecommunications design and construction specifications.Experience with estimating and scheduling small to medium-sized projects.Strong communication and coordination skills.Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.Preferred Qualifications3+ years of telecommunications design experience in semiconductor or data center facilities.RCDD, DCDC, OSP, or RTPM certification.Project management experience.Experience with Revit, Revit MEP, AutoCAD, or other 3D BIM software.Experience designing paging, intercom, and audiovisual systems.Knowledge of control systems and network topology.Experience with large-scale data center or semiconductor facility infrastructure.Equal OpportunityRigUp is committed to providing an inclusive and professional workplace.
