Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nEssential job Duties\nLead the design, development, and operation of Ruby on Rails services running on AWS, GCP and Kubernetes.\nServe as a technical lead for evolving the platform toward a scalable, multi-tenant architecture, balancing long-term direction with near-term delivery.\nWrite clean, maintainable, and well-tested Rails code while setting technical standards for the team.\nPartner closely with DevOps and development teams to improve CI/CD, deployment, and operational workflows.\nIdentify and remediate broken or inefficient engineering processes, tooling gaps, and handoffs that slow delivery or increase risk.\nDesign and review system architectures with a focus on scalability, reliability, and tenant isolation.\nOptimize application performance, database queries, background jobs, and infrastructure utilization.\nImprove production readiness through better monitoring, alerting, logging, and incident response practices.\nParticipate in and help lead on-call rotations, root-cause analysis, and long-term corrective actions.\nMentor engineers on cloud-native development, DevOps practices, and production ownership.\nCollaborate with Product, QA, and Engineering Leadership to align technical execution with business priorities.\nOther Job Duties\nOther duties as assigned by supervisor or HHAeXchange leader.\nTravel Requirements\nTravel 10-25%, including overnight travel\nRequired Education, Experience, Certifications and Skills\n7+ years of experience building and operating production-grade Ruby on Rails applications.\nDemonstrated experience in DevOps or platform-focused engineering roles, not just application development.\nStrong hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure (e.g., EKS/ECS, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch).\nPractical experience deploying and operating applications in Kubernetes environments.\nExperience designing and improving CI/CD pipelines and release processes.\nStrong proficiency with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, including performance tuning.\nSolid understanding of software architecture, system design, and tradeoffs at scale.\nProven ability to debug complex production issues and drive them to resolution.\nComfortable working in Agile development environments with cross-functional teams.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nBachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.\nWillingness to explore and adopt AI tools responsibly to enhance productivity and innovation in your role\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience leading or contributing to single-tenant\nmulti-tenant SaaS transformations.\nExperience with distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, or event-driven systems at scale\nFamiliarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).\nExperience operating high-traffic, multi-tenant SaaS platforms.\nFamiliarity with observability tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, or Scout APM.\nExperience with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes-based orchestration at scale.\nKnowledge of background job processing systems (e.g., Sidekiq, Resque).\nExperience modernizing large legacy Rails codebases.\nThe base salary range for this US-based, full-time, and exempt position is $120,000-130,000/yr, not including variable compensation. An employee’s exact starting salary will be based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, merit, location, and the ability to exemplify the HHAeXchange core values.\nThis is a benefits-eligible position.
