The instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering ESL curriculum. Along with the classroom hours, there will be a strong focus on using a learning management system and collaborative learning.\nEssential Job Duties and Responsibilities:\nTeaches courses in Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced ESL\nPrepares lesson plans as part of administrative tasks per class assignment\nDelivers lectures and facilitates project-based learning (PBL)\nEvaluates and monitors students’ progress\nMaintains necessary records to report student academic progress (SAP) to the Academic Dean\nAttends quarterly ESL instructor in-service meetings\nStays abreast with the trends and developments in ESL studies by attending professional development activities outside of CSI and completing a minimum of two professional development activities annually\nOrganizes and leads field trips for students\nActively contributes to program improvement\nProvides academic advising and support to students\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nKnowledge of pedagogical methods teaching ESL\nNative or near-native ability to speak English\nEducation and Experience: The position requires a Bachelor or Master degree in ESL/EFL, two years prior teaching experience required. In Cases where the Bachelor or Master Degree is not in ESL/EFL, language teaching faculty must have a specific knowledge base and skill set that includes, at a minimum, the following:\nLanguage teaching methodology\nThe nature of language/languages (e.g., introduction to linguistics\nThe structure of English ( e.g., syntax, phonology, morphology, discourse)\nSecond language acquisition\nIntercultural communication ( e.g., sociolinguistics, crosscultural studies)\nPracticum experience\nPhysical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the instructor is regularly required to stand; walk and sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.\nWork Environment: Normal office working conditions.
