We’re looking for someone who not only enjoys solving technical challenges, but also cares deeply about developer experience and can communicate complex ideas clearly through documentation, examples, tutorials, and community engagement.\n\nAs part of the role, you’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams while also engaging directly with developers in the Unreal community. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of Rive’s Unreal support, influence product direction through customer feedback, and create compelling technical content that inspires developers and designers alike.\n\nMore details on what you’ll do\nUnreal Runtime Development:\n\nSupport and evolve Rive’s Unreal runtime by exposing new Rive runtime capabilities within Unreal while maintaining long‑term stability and quality.\n\nStay current with developments across the Unreal ecosystem, proactively planning support for new engine features, platforms, SDKs, and devices.\n\nWrite, maintain, and expand automated test coverage to ensure runtime reliability and performance.\n\nDeveloper Experience & API Design:\n\nHelp shape a best‑in‑class developer experience for Unreal developers using Rive.\n\nEnsure the Unreal runtime aligns consistently with the APIs and workflows of other Rive runtimes.\n\nAdvocate for developers by validating new features, workflows, and integrations from the perspective of real‑world usability and production adoption.\n\nDocumentation, Samples, and Educational Content:\n\nContribute to documentation that supports both new and experienced developers using Rive.\n\nCreate sample projects, reference implementations, and example code that demonstrate best practices and common workflows.\n\nCommunity and Customer Support:\n\nTriage and investigate issues reported by customers and the community.\n\nServe as a technical resource for both internal teams and external Unreal developers using Rive.\n\nCollaborate directly with customers to help them succeed with production integrations and best practices.\n\nGather and communicate developer feedback to help shape product direction and roadmap priorities.\n\nGrow awareness and adoption of Rive within the Unreal community through discussions, community engagement, demos, and developer advocacy.\n\nWhat you will bring\n\nExtensive experience developing projects in Unreal Engine, with a solid understanding of engine architecture, patterns, and conventions.\n\nProficiency with Unreal’s UI frameworks, including Slate and UMG.\n\nC++ proficiency, including working within large existing codebases and extending established systems and architectures.\n\nExperience building developer tooling, SDKs, APIs, or Blueprint systems, ideally including integrating Blueprint workflows with native C++ systems.\n\nStrong empathy for developers and an understanding of what creates exceptional SDKs, APIs, tooling, and documentation experiences.\n\nA passion for sharing knowledge through tutorials, demos, videos, written content, or other educational formats.\n\nPrior experience working with end users, skilled in handling customer questions.\n\nBonus Points for\n\nExperience using Rive!\n\nExperience with, or an interest in learning, other game engines and frameworks.\n\nParticipation in developer communities through open source, blogs, conference talks, meetups, tutorials, YouTube content, hackathons, or technical education.\n\nExamples of technical writing, tutorials, documentation, or educational content you’ve created.\n\nLocation\nNorth America remote, with the ability to work overlapping hours centered around U.S. Pacific time and come to the San Francisco office on occasion to collaborate in person.\n\nCompensation and benefits\nWe offer a remote work environment, comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage as well as stock options. The base salary range for this role is $160-185k.
