At BFS, you’ll be equipped with all the tools, training, and resources you need, and you’ll be empowered to try new things, gain new experiences, and build a career with unlimited horizons.\n\nPURPOSE\n\nOperates basic saw types such as pop-up, miter, web saws, etc. to cut planks, timbers, or boards according to work orders by performing the following duties.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nReviews work order to determine cut(s) to be made.\nAdjusts saw for required cuts.\nAdjusts speed of saw and feed rolls.\nObserves automatic feeding of lumber to saw or pushes end of lumber into feed rolls.\nStacks cut lumber after processing.\nAdvises supervisor of dull saw blades.\nOther duties as assigned\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.\n\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.\n\nLess than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\nCOMPETENCIES\n\nOral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in situations; Listens and gets clarification when needed.\nTeamwork - Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Puts success of team above own interests; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed.\nQuality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.\nQuantity - Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity; Works quickly.\nSafety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.\nAttendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time.\nDependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.\nLanguage Skills - Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.\nMathematical Skills - Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to read at tape measure at 1/16 inch.\nReasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.\nOther Skills and Abilities - Must be able to identify species, size, and grade of lumber.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL ACTIVITY\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
