About the Organization Our company was incorporated in 1984 within the State of North Carolina, and opened its doors for business in August of 1985. The company has continually grown to a point where we currently serve more than 600 individuals, and employ more than 1000 people across the state. Skill Creations is a human services agency that operates three service divisions. The ICF Division provides specialized long-term residential care to 191 individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in 15 different towns in North Carolina. The Community Operations Division provides residential and non-residential services to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in their home community. The Child Development Division, with two locations in Goldsboro, provides high quality child care and preschool for children ages birth - 5 years. One center also offers after school care through age 12. Description Direct Support Professional - Community/Client Home Based Services Seeking employment that makes a difference in the lives of others? Become a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with Skill Creations, Inc., a nonprofit agency helping people with disabilities meet their personal goals. The DSP works in the individual's home and/or in a community setting, providing care according to the specific needs and goals of the individuals. Pay Rate: $16/hr Part Time- schedule TBD with employee input North Asheville, near UNCA Job Description: Provide support to a cool college student who likes goofing around and hanging out downtown. His interests include chess, video games, and bike riding. A day with this individual may include walking his dog, eating Duck Doughnuts, and assisting with physical therapy exercises. Potential to be super fun and rewarding. Hands-on duties will include:Assisting with ambulation, eating/drinking, and personal careProviding transport and companionship out in the communityDoing leisure activities togetherSupporting him in achieving his personal goals Our motto is "Creating life skills with those we serve." Requirements:High School, GED, or College Transcript from an accredited school.Valid NC Driver's license and acceptable Driving Record.Criminal Record Check.Completion of paid training in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.Basic computer skills for e-mail, electronic training modules, and data recording.Ability to remain on one's feet most of the time.Ability to lift 50 pounds, and to occasionally balance, bend, stoop, and kneel.Prompt and regular attendance.
