The Maintenance Trainer/Instructor will draw on previous experience in transportation, ideally from a transit system, and have experience teaching as an instructor in a formal classroom setting and hands on instruction on various bus parts on the maintenance floor.\nThe maintenance trainer performs classroom and hands on instruction to include but not limited to technician development program, basic and advanced training, new equipment familiarization training, remedial training and shop safety meetings. Works directly with the maintenance manager regarding compliance, training documentation, and safety programs. It is the responsibility of the Maintenance Trainer/Instructor to assist in the implementation of all policies and procedures as determined by Transdev/NICE Bus in order to maintain regulatory compliance with state and federal agencies including state and federal DOT.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nDetermines training objectives by conducting analysis of overall needs and specific skill or knowledge gaps.\nManages the development of training programs and materials including outlines, text, handouts, hands on exercises, and training evaluations.\nEnsures new technicians and service personnel are thoroughly trained in the safe and efficient handling of vehicles and equipment to exceed customer standards.\nMonitors the progress of technicians and service personnel to ensure proper training. Ensures all employee training records are in compliance with training policies.\nAssesses and manages any contractors utilized to deliver specialized training.Manages the ASE Program.\nPerforms new equipment familiarization and refresher training.\nActs as a resource to provide employees with expert information on operation of equipment.\nAssists with advanced diagnostics on equipment as needed.\nWill be utilized to develop fleet defect solutions, work with bus manufacturers and aid in the development and specifications of future tool, software and vehicle purchases.\nMonitors and trains maintenance employees on OSHA compliance.\nRecommends additional methods, procedures, and preventative measures to provide the highest level of safety.\nSupervises with other Maintenance managers to educate and train maintenance personnel which may lead to recommending discipline.\nMonitors technician performance in a manner consistent with company/location policy\nProvides technical assistance and on-the-job training to mechanics.\nPerforms related work as required and other tasks as assigned.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nCollege or technical degree preferred.\nPossess a combination of hands-on experience and formal instruction training in a classroom setting as well as on the maintenance floor.\nThree years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of automotive and transit equipment or an equivalent combination of training and experience.\nKnowledge of internal combustion engines, automatic transmissions, air brakes, steering, and drivelines.\nMust possess a strong understanding of the theory of electricity and also be able to read and understand wiring diagrams.\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.\nAbility to write routine reports and correspondence.\nAbility to obtain a Commercial Drivers' License with a passenger endorsement.\nProficiency using Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)\nMust be able to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations.\nMust be a team player yet able to work well independently.\nMust be able to work well with a diverse group of internal and external customers.\nThorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety/training procedures.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nThe physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by the employee to successful perform the essential functions of this job.
