This position will be responsible for the engineering of electrical systems for retail, restaurant, public infrastructure and facilities, recreation, education, and residential, with a heavy emphasis on multi-site retail design, including restaurants.\n\nExcellent opportunity for growth and advancement.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign of electrical systems for a variety of projects.\nDevelop construction drawings suitable for the public bidding of electrical systems.\nPerform load calculations to determine building service size, power distribution, voltage drops, wiring size, lighting, and emergency power systems.\nPopulate panel schedules, generate risers and single-line diagrams.\nWork closely with the entire design team to coordinate Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for power requirements.\nEnsure NEC, energy, and NFPA codes and specifications are implemented.\nAbility to adhere to deadlines and work in a fast-paced consulting environment.\nPerform field visits to document and verify existing equipment and systems.\nConstruction administration duties include: answering RFIs, reviewing submittals, and resolving design/coordination issues with contractors.\nPrepare due diligence and feasibility reports.\nAttend meetings with other consultants.\nComply with group and company standards and procedures.\nSkills Knowledge and Expertise\nMinimum Qualificaitons\nProfessional Engineering (PE) License in at least one state.\nAbility to get NCEES.\nDegree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.\n5+ years of experience in electrical design with knowledge of power distribution, fire alarm, data & communications, lighting, and emergency power systems.\nAbility to bring projects to completion with no supervision and complete the QA/QC process.\nExcellent communication skills and experience/proficiency in PC use and application.\nWillingness to mentor junior-level staff.\nOne or more years of AutoCAD education, training, or related experience.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nProfessional Engineering (PE) license in multiple states.\nNCEES certified.\nBS or Masters in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.\nPrevious design experience with an MEP engineering consultant.\n10+ years of experience in electrical design with in-depth knowledge of power distribution, fire alarms, data & communications, lighting, and emergency power systems.\nSolid experience with the latest version of AutoCAD and Revit.\nProficiency in applying requirements of applicable NEC, NFPA, building, and energy codes.\nAbility to work independently without supervision.\nAbility to supervise and manage a department, including budgeting, business development, and management of staff.\nIn possession of, or eligible to obtain LEED BD+C credentials.\nBenefits\nA Great Place to Belong!\n\nWe know it...what makes APD truly great is our people.\n\nAnd we appreciate them.
