Quality Technician (Cell Manufacturing)

Amprius has an immediate opening for Quality Technician (Cell Manufacturing)! The Quality Technician is the primary guardian of quality on the production floor. This is an active, 100% shop-floor role designed for a high-autonomy expert who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role will operate with an "inspect, diagnose, and repair" mindset, spending your day on the manufacturing floor providing real-time guidance to production operators. This role will be responsible for identifying defects, driving root cause investigations, and managing the non-conformance (NCMR) process from identification to final disposition. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who can leverage their deep battery manufacturing knowledge to build and refine quality standards in a rapidly evolving production setting. This is a 3-month TEMP to FTE role. Job ResponsibilitiesAct as the quality expert on the floor, providing real-time technical coaching and quality guidance to production operators based on your cell manufacturing experienceExecute rigorous inspections across the production lifecycle, including incoming raw materials (IQC), in-process/in-line inspection (IPQC), and final cell testing (OQC); this includes OCV/IR checks and final product verificationOwn the end-to-end non-conformance process by logging, tracking, and leading Material Review Board (MRB) activities to drive rapid and efficient material disposition (Scrap, Rework, or Use-As-Is)Drive the implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) by personally verifying that root-cause solutions are physically sustained at the station level and validated through rigorous auditsLeverage your manufacturing expertise to help define, document, and streamline new quality procedures and standards as the production line scalesAuthor and issue Quality Alerts to ensure the entire production team is immediately aware of emerging trends, defects, or critical process updatesSupport the broader team by maintaining training acknowledgement records, assisting with inventory organization, and coordinating site calibration activities to ensure all measurement tools are in-serviceMonitor the manufacturing environment to identify potential risks—such as equipment drift or material variance—and proactively collaborate with Engineering to mitigate these risks before they impact yieldUtilize dashboards and physical "line walks" to anticipate quality risks and provide proactive feedback to the Production and Engineering teamsSupport Engineering trials, new line validations, and PFMEA activities to mitigate risksRequirementsQualifications 4-5 years of experience in quality control within a high-volume manufacturing environmentDirect experience in Cell or Battery Manufacturing is strongly preferredHigh proficiency with precision tools including calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and specialized testing equipment (Keyence or CMM experience is a plus)Proven ability to operate as a self-starter, using technical intuition and industry knowledge to navigate complex production challenges with minimal supervisionPreferred: Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagramsFamiliarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949 frameworks (specifically FMEA, APQP, and PPAP concepts)A natural curiosity to investigate "why" a failure occurred and a drive to implement permanent solutionsExcellent verbal communication skills for operator coaching and disciplined record-keeping skillsAbility to support weekend operations and provide ad-hoc coverage as dictated by production schedules and mission-critical deadlinesWillingness to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced start-up environmentEducation, Certifications, ExperienceAssociate or bachelor's degree in engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field; equivalent military or technical trade school experience also highly valuedPreferred: ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or equivalent professional certificationPreferred: Lean Six Sigma Green or Yellow Belt; experience with 8D or 5-Why root cause methodologiesPreferred: Familiarity or certification in IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 internal auditingPhysical Demands & Work Location:Fremont, CA: This is an on-site job.
