Engage directly with IT management, business areas, technical teams, and vendors to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of technology-based solutions.\nWrite code and modify software to fix errors, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces. Direct system testing and validation procedures and work with business departments on technical issues including software system design and maintenance.\nDrive the software change and release management processes, assisting with the overall maturity of the software development lifecycle. Ensure that software deliverables comply with quality standards and are completed on time.\nKeep current with trends and issues in the industry and advise technology leadership on architecture or other impacts.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nResponsible for delivery and integration of new technologies from a software development standpoint in support of core insurance processing (e.g., Marketing & Sales, New Business, Customer Service) and corporate functions (e.g., Finance, Investments, Fraternal).\nPrepare documentation on programming project specifications to meet business requirements.\nDesign, develop, modify, implement, and support software components using analysis and programming skills to meet business needs.\nDetermine root cause for software issues and develop practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions.\nModify software to fix errors, improve performance, or upgrade interfaces.\nSupport the configuration of selfmaintenance tools.\nAnalyze information to recommend and plan the installation of new systems or modifications of an existing system.\nEvaluate interface requirements and develop specifications, performance requirements, and technical solutions.\nConduct system testing and validation procedures.\nWork with business departments on technical issues including software system design and maintenance.\nCoordinate the installation of new systems or the modification of existing systems.\nFollow consistent methodologies in support of the project lifecycle and recommend improvements to the methodology to increase the quality and timeliness of output.\nAssist in task planning, estimation and scheduling of software development and integration activities.\nContribute to the ongoing improvement of the portfolio of applications in terms of new and/or modified capabilities to meet business needs.\nProvide insights into how to drive improvements to the business through costeffective technology solutions.\nDrive the successful completion of technical deliverables and tasks of inscope projects.\nWork collaboratively with the business areas to ensure software meets business requirements.\nKeep current with trends and issues in the industry and advise technology leadership on architecture or other impacts.\nProperly adheres to company risk management principles: o Adhering and supporting GBU’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework\nUnderstanding and complying with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; completing all required training; executing and monitoring controls effectively (as applicable); appropriately identifying, assessing, escalating and remediating risks, potential issues and control failures (as applicable); and reporting compliance or regulatory concerns to management. oUnderstanding and conducting oneself in accordance with the Employee Handbook and preserving GBU’s brand and reputation.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned by management.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.\n5+ years of programming experience.\nBroad experience designing, programming, and implementing information systems including experience with the Microsoft .NET Framework / ASP.NET, NetCOBOL for Windows and SQL databases.\nAbility to provide indepth evaluation and analysis of technological issues.\nAbility to develop unit testing of code components or complete applications.\nUnderstand concepts of software engineering.\nExperience working on a variety of software development projects.\nExperience in the insurance industry with an emphasis on technologies in support of the life and annuity sector.\nRelevant industry experience that focuses on aligning technical services with the needs of the business.\nProven track record delivering high quality, successful software development and/or integration projects.\nUnderstanding of current and planned system and technologies that may include development languages, Microsoft technologies, EXL LifePro Policy Administration System, and EAS Accounting Package.\nDemonstrated team player with a cando attitude who takes a collaborative approach, strives for excellence and acts with integrity.\nStrong analytical and problemsolving skills.\nWork on projects with team members including internal and external personnel and consultants.\nWork collaboratively with software and services vendors.\nSolid oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.\nStrong sense of responsibility and ownership.\nHigh customer service orientation.\nStrong commitment to continuous professional education & ability remain up to date with latest trends.\nOUR BENEFITS:\nMedical, Dental Vision\nCompany paid HRA\n401(k) + match\nPension Plan\nLongTerm Disability\nPaid FLMA\nLife Insurance & AD&D\nPTO and VTO (Volunteer Time Off)\nAbout GBU Life\nGBU Financial Life is a member-owned, not-for-profit fraternal benefit society founded in Pittsburgh in 1892.
