Product Control Director, Equity Derivatives
Job Title:Director, Equity Derivative Product ControlJob Description:A leading global investment bank is seeking a Director-level professional to lead Product Control coverage for the Equity Derivatives business. This role will serve as a senior finance partner to the trading desk, risk management, valuation control, and senior management, with responsibility for ensuring accurate P&L reporting, robust valuation governance, and strong control oversight across a broad range of equity derivative products.The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of equity derivatives valuation and market risk, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced front-office environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Control & P&L OversightLead daily Product Control activities for Equity Derivatives trading desks, including P&L production, attribution, and analysis.Review and validate daily, monthly, and quarterly P&L across flow and exotics businesses, ensuring accuracy and completeness.Analyze and explain key P&L drivers, including Greeks, market movements, new trades, reserves, and valuation adjustments.Oversee balance sheet substantiation and ensure compliance with internal accounting and regulatory standards.Valuation Control & IPVManage Independent Price Verification (IPV) processes for equity derivatives, including vanilla options, structured products, variance swaps, correlation products, and hybrid instruments.Evaluate model assumptions, valuation methodologies, liquidity reserves, bid-offer adjustments, and prudent valuation frameworks.Partner with Valuation Control, Quantitative Analytics, and Market Risk teams to enhance pricing methodologies and control frameworks.Ensure appropriate governance around fair value hierarchy classifications and valuation adjustments.Risk & GovernanceStrengthen control frameworks related to market risk, valuation uncertainty, and financial reporting.Drive governance initiatives supporting regulatory expectations, audit requirements, and internal policy compliance.Escalate material valuation or control issues to senior management in a timely manner.Coordinate responses for internal audit, external audit, and regulatory examinations.Business PartnershipAct as a trusted advisor to Front Office trading and structuring teams on valuation, P&L, and balance sheet impacts.Support new product approvals, strategic initiatives, and system implementation projects.Provide financial analysis and insight to senior management regarding business performance and risk exposures.Collaborate with technology teams to automate controls, improve reporting infrastructure, and enhance data quality.Leadership & Team ManagementLead and mentor a team of Product Controllers across Equity Derivatives coverage areas.Foster a strong risk and control culture while promoting operational excellence and continuous improvement.Drive talent development, performance management, and succession planning within the team.Company Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field; advanced degree or CPA/CFA preferred.10+ years of Product Control, Valuation Control, Market Risk, or related experience within an investment bank.Strong knowledge of equity derivatives products, including options, swaps, structured notes, exotics, and volatility products.Deep understanding of derivative valuation methodologies, Greeks, P&L attribution, and fair value accounting.Experience managing IPV, valuation adjustments, prudent valuation, and regulatory control frameworks.Proven leadership experience managing teams in a complex, front-office-facing environment.Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; familiarity with Python, SQL, VBA, or visualization tools is a plus.Knowledge of regulatory and accounting frameworks impacting trading businesses, including IFRS and/or U.S. GAAP.
