Senior Lead Technician (Component Repair / Avionics / Accessories)
Job Description
Position Overview
This is not a standard technician role.
We are hiring a Senior Lead Technician to take ownership of the shop floor — someone who can diagnose, repair, and lead , not just follow instructions.
You will operate as the technical lead between ownership and the bench , with real influence over:
* Repair strategy
* Workflow and turnaround time
* Technical standards
* Team development
If you need constant direction, this is not the role.
If you can walk in and elevate an operation — it is.
What We Do
We are a high-volume FAA Part 145 repair station specializing in component-level repair , not part replacement.
Our approved capabilities include:
* 500+ instruments (altimeters, gyros, airspeed, indicators)
* 550+ accessories (starter generators, fuel systems, actuators, inverters, valves)
* Avionics and radio systems
* Airframe components (DHC-6 series)
This is real teardown, troubleshooting, repair, and return-to-service work.
What You'll Be Responsible For
* Lead bench-level diagnostics and repair of complex aircraft components
* Troubleshoot down to root cause (electrical, mechanical, circuit-level)
* Own workflow, prioritization, and turnaround time (TAT)
* Train and elevate junior technicians
* Ensure compliance with FAA / EASA / CAA standards
* Improve processes and shop efficiency
* Act as the technical authority on the floor
Who This Role Is Built For
You likely come from one of the following:
* A&P Mechanic with strong systems knowledge
* Avionics Technician who can troubleshoot (not just swap)
* Electrical or Mechanical Engineer (hands-on)
* Robotics / Mechatronics / Controls background
* Military or industrial technical roles
* Component repair specialist
Non-Aviation Backgrounds (Actively Considered)
We have had strong success hiring from outside aviation.
If you come from a technical background and can actually troubleshoot , we will train you on aviation systems.
We are specifically open to:
* Electrical Engineering
* Mechanical Engineering
* Robotics / Mechatronics
* Industrial Maintenance / Controls
What matters:
* You understand systems, not just tasks
* You can diagnose problems logically
* You can learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
If your experience is only procedural, this will not be a fit.
If you've built, repaired, or reverse-engineered complex systems — this is.
Requirements
* Strong troubleshooting ability (non-negotiable)
* Experience working with mechanical and/or electrical systems
* Ability to read schematics and technical manuals
* Comfortable working hands-on in a fast-paced shop
Preferred (not required):
* FAA A&P License
* Avionics experience
* Prior leadership or shop-floor responsibility
What You're Walking Into
* Established FAA Part 145 repair station
* Consistent workflow and demand
* Direct access to ownership (no corporate layers)
* Real authority to influence operations
* Opportunity to build and lead a high-performing shop
