This role is responsible for the design, build, and activation of infrastructure, facility improvements, and large capital projects. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change in a fast-paced and low-drag environment. This includes owning tasks/projects from start to finish to make the SpaceX campus a world-class facility that can support the mission of enabling life beyond Earth. This position is based in McGregor, Texas (Central Texas area).\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nProvide daily coordination to contractors working across the entire facility and coordinate critical path work to maintain project schedules\n\nPlan construction activities with facility operators to avoid delays to facility operations\n\nPerform daily inspection and verification of contractors’ progress and observe critical operations to ensure quality\n\nProvide site layout to contractors and record as-built information with GPS and total station equipment, hire and manage independent surveyors as needed\n\nEnsure contractors follow site and OSHA safety standards while performing work\n\nInteract with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal clients to develop project requirements, schedules, and cost estimates before project implementation\n\nResolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-time\n\nSafely and efficiently operate earthmoving equipment to support various infrastructure projects across the site including streets and drainage construction/maintenance, utility installation, commercials pads, etc.(operating the heavy equipment will be a large part of this role in addition to the project coordination and oversight responsibilities)\n\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nBS in construction or engineering with 2+ years of experience working in the field on construction projects (5+ total years of commercial construction field engineering experience will be considered in lieu of degree)\n\n2+ years of experience operating earth-moving/heavy equipment\n\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\n\nExperience operating excavators, loaders, motor graders, dozers, and trenchers to design grades and elevations\n\nExperience in field layout and staking using tape measures, string lines, transit levels, and laser levels\n\nProficiency in reading construction documents\n\nProficiency in calculating percent grade, calculating volumes, and establishing and using site benchmarks\n\nExperience in performing topographic, construction staking, and as-builts using GPS and/or total station equipment\n\nExperience installing civil infrastructure such as underground dry and wet utilities and road construction\n\nExperience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management\n\nExperience in directing work in the field between trades and contractors\n\nExperience in using AutoCAD or Autodesk Civil 3D\n\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\n\nMust be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needs; flexibility required\n\nAbility to work at elevated heights (200+ feet)\n\nPhysical effort with lifting and carrying materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs. unassisted)\n\nTypically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain\n\nWork performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise\n\nMust be able to climb ladders and work in tight spaces\n\nValid driver’s license\n\nOccasional travel may be required to support projects at other sites (up to 25%)\n\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
