Platform Engineer
We are seeking an Intermediate Platform Engineer with a strong focus on application monitoring and observability to support and enhance enterprise monitoring platforms. This role plays a key part in ensuring application performance, reliability, and visibility across complex environments by implementing effective monitoring, dashboards, and alerting. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with application performance monitoring tools (especially AppDynamics), enjoys collaborating with application and infrastructure teams, and is comfortable troubleshooting performance issues using telemetry and monitoring data.Key ResponsibilitiesImplement and maintain application performance monitoring using AppDynamics, including instrumentation, transaction tracing, and performance analysisConfigure and support real user monitoring (RUM), synthetic monitoring, and database monitoring to improve application visibilitySupport integrations with visualization or event management tools such as BigPanda or Grafana.Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations to provide clear insights into application health and performanceAssist with alert configuration and tuning to reduce noise and improve incident responseSupport automated deployment and configuration of monitoring agents through CI/CD pipelinesPartner with application, infrastructure, and operations teams to gather monitoring requirements and deliver scalable solutionsParticipate in incident investigation and troubleshooting using monitoring and telemetry dataHelp document and follow monitoring standards, best practices, and operational proceduresSupport monitoring and observability solutions across cloud and on-prem environments Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience3–6+ years of experience in platform engineering, monitoring, observability, or related rolesHands-on experience with AppDynamics for application performance monitoringWorking knowledge of real user monitoring, synthetic monitoring, and database monitoring conceptsExperience supporting monitoring platforms in enterprise or large-scale environmentsFamiliarity with alerting strategies and alert noise reduction principlesWorking knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, and IAMExperience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, or similar)Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, APIs, or infrastructure automation tools) Preferred Qualifications Experience with event or incident management platformsExperience managing monitoring agent deployments or upgrades at scaleAwareness of cloud and platform security best practicesInterest in or pursuit of cloud or observability certificationsExperience working with distributed or globally aligned engineering teams Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
