Overview
Homans Associates is a subsidiary of the largest independent HVAC/R distribution company in the world, Watsco, Inc. We proudly distribute the Mitsubishi and Bryant brands of HVAC equipment, as well as a full line of HVAC residential and commercial parts, supplies, and accessories. We have locations throughout New England, New York, and New Jersey. We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Accountant / AR Claim Analyst working out of Wilmington. location. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer.
As the Controler you will be responsible for all aspects of accounting including responsible for managing vendor payment activity, receivable activity, general accounting, expense controls, financial reporting and financial controls and auditing.
Responsibilities
Manage the process and posting of vendor invoices.
Managing intercompany receivable and transactions.
Reconcile transactions by verifying and comparing system reports to balances.
·Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports, recording entries.
Preparing month end management reports reconciled to balance sheet and income statement.
Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
Verify general ledger accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
Work with CFO and division CEO on Hydros priorities including revenue and profitability targets.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and or Experience
4-year college degree with a focus on accounting. CPA preferred
Technical Skills
Intermediate to advanced user of the Internet and Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Accounting software experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certified Public Accountant
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to communicate with outside vendors and internally to senior management.
Travel:
Ability to travel required. Eastern US primarily in first year. After 1st year, approximately 10%-20% per year.
Minimum 4 years’ Field Controller experience in a distribution industry preferred.
Experience with month end financial reporting to a public company with strict deadlines.
Transactional and business management experience required.
Must be able to work independently to meet deadlines and able to communicate to multiple layers of an organization including presenting monthly and quarterly information.
