Production Supervisor

Job Description JOB SUMMARYThe production supervisor oversees all activities of the production department including processing materials, and manufacturing and packaging products in an industrial manner.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSReviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operationsPlans production operations on a daily basisInspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilizationIs familiar with cGMP’s, standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standardsCompiles, stores, and retrieves production data and submits same information to the Director of Production for quality assurance and/or storageResolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Director of Production for actionWorks directly with Maintenance to ensure PMs and repairs are done when neededSupport and lead continuous improvement effortsCOMPETENCIESManage and lead staff in day-to-day operationsStrong LeadershipPerformance ManagementProblem Solving/AnalysisResults DrivenCommunication ProficiencyTime ManagementAttention to detailSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYDirectly supervises 35-50 employees in the Production Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, applicable laws and current Good Manufacturing Practices in the code of Federal Regulations. Responsibilities include; training employees, planning, assigning tasks, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problemsWORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, moving parts and vibrations.
