****REPOST**** CORRECTIONAL OFFICER LIEUTENANT Maryland Correctional Transportation Unit

Position: Transportation/Escort Officer Grade: CORR 0007 Location: Baltimore City 319 W. Monument St. Baltimore, MD 21201 Position Duties Directly supervise Sergeant’s detail OIC’s in the performance of their duties as Transportation/Escort. Coordinate and control movement of inmates, staff, and vehicles in accordance with established policies and procedures. Directly supervise Correctional Officer Sergeant and Correctional Officers. Schedule daily post assignments. Conduct security rounds in courtrooms, inmate holding areas, and MCTU hub. Monitor travel routes utilized by MCTU personnel. Track and document daily court, shipping, and transfer activity. Respond to emergencies. Inspect vehicle/practices safe driving. Document and report Officer Late, Sick, Emergency Personal Leave, Annual Leave, and IWIF. Conduct roll call. Conduct uniform inspections. Maintain weapons proficiency/practice weapons security. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the division and MCTU policies and procedures. Prepare Performance Evaluations. Make random inspections of officers picking up/returning and restraint procedures at institutions and courts. Provide professional counseling. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School diploma or high school equivalency certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Correctional Training Commission regulation. Experience: Two years of experience leading the work of Correctional Officers in the custody and security of adult inmates or in performing advanced work as a Correctional K-9 Officer or Correctional Internal Security Officer. Other Requirements U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status. Must be at least 21 years of age. Completed background investigation. Oral interview. Physical examination. Employees hired or reinstated on or after July 1, 2016 must complete Entrance Level Firearms Training and demonstrate practical knowledge and proficiency in the safe use and care of firearms on a periodic basis. Employees are subject to call‑in 24 hours a day and must provide a reachable telephone number. Employees are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09. Employees may be required to possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a Class C Maryland driver’s license for the operation of motor vehicles and large vans used for transportation of inmates.
