Anyone can become a tutor as long as they have a passion to make a difference — and meet the following minimum qualifications.\nBy the time they begin their service, our tutors are:\nDependable and have a history of good attendance.\nAble to understand and follow instructions.\nOpen to making improvements based on feedback.\nCapable of setting a pace and maintaining a schedule with students.\nCompetent with basic computer skills (like email and navigating online).\nFluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.\n18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.\nA citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.*\nAble to successfully complete a background check.\nApplicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve in our programs at this time. DACA applicants may be eligible for Americorps VISTA programs. For more information, click here.\nCompensation & Perks Package:\nWhile you’re making a difference, you’ll receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks and additional perks! As an AmeriCorps program we have both federally provided benefits and program specific benefits.\n\nFederal Benefits include:\nUp to $5176.50 in Education Award\nSegal AmeriCorps Education Award* which can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55+ at the start of their service term may gift their award to a family member.
