An important part of this role is using technology, automation, and AI tools to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and make accounting processes more efficient.\nDUTIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO): Own the month-end close for assigned business lines and entities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.\nMaintain accurate general ledger records and research and resolve discrepancies.\nPrepare and manage construction, lender, partner, and other draw packages supporting company cash inflows.\nMaintain debt and loan schedules, reconciliations, and lender reporting.\nManage accounting processes related to company credit cards, including coding, documentation, and reconciliations.\nAssist with annual financial statement audits and supporting schedules.\nServe as a back-up for Accounts Payable and support other accounting functions as needed.\nIdentify opportunities to improve and automate accounting processes using AI, advanced Excel, and other technology.\nAssist the VP of Accounting with financial analysis, reporting, and special projects.\nEXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.\nStrong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.\nAccounting experience with the ability to independently manage responsibilities and deadlines.\nStrong Excel and computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new systems.\nComfortable using—or eager to learn—AI, automation, and emerging technology to improve accounting processes.\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.\nA proactive, accountable mindset and the ability to work effectively across departments.\nPreferred: Experience in construction, real estate development, homebuilding, project or multi-entity accounting, lender draws, debt schedules, or Newstar Enterprise.\nWHY THIS ROLE?
