We are hiring for an experienced, detail-oriented Platform Engineer to support this team.\n\nThis job is right for you if you love a dynamic environment, dealing with complex technical challenges, getting the details right, and solving hard problems. The key to your success in this role is a desire to be around people, in the office. We support focus days, out of the office, on a case-by-case basis, but this is an in-office position because this is an cloud-native platform that is run on-premises at the tactical edge.\n\nThis new team member will focus on optimizing our DevSecOps pipelines and automating our test, build, and release processes. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of software engineering principles, including the ability to identify and implement relevant software design patterns and contribute to the overall operational readiness of the platform. This candidate will also have a strong desire to mentor junior engineers and elevate the organization through their leadership by establishing strong working relationships across functional teams and organizational boundaries.\n\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nSoftware Development Life Cycle: Enhance collaboration and efficiency within development projects by leveraging agile methodologies.\nCI/CD Pipeline Management: Design, implement, and manage DevSecOps pipelines to maintain and increase the velocity of our implementation efforts.\nInfrastructure Automation: Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using tools like Terraform and Ansible.\nSystem Performance Monitoring: Ensure high availability and reliability of our services by monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.\nApplication Optimization: Collaborate with development teams to enhance application performance and scalability.\nSecurity & Compliance: Ensure security best practices are followed and assist in maintaining compliance with NIST, CIS, OWASP, and other relevant security standards and guidelines.\nDocumentation: Document processes, system changes, and releases to ensure our team and and our customers are on the same sheet of music.\nCode Reviews: Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.\nInternal Tools Creation: Support the creation of internal tools to enhance productivity and collaboration across teams.\nEmerging Technologies: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our infrastructure.\nIncident Response: Assist in incident response and root-cause analysis to identify opportunities to increase the resiliency and reliability of our platform.\nThe Fathom5 Platform Engineer position also requires:\nClear and effective communication: Written and oral communication skills sufficient to accurately convey technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.\nQuick learning and problem-solving: The ability and desire to learn new technologies and swiftly implement effective solutions.\nTechnical proficiency: Strong understanding of cloud platforms, containerization, and DevSecOps tools.\nInitiative: The drive to identify and address inefficiencies, automate processes, and improve system reliability – without waiting for an invitation.\nTeam-first mentality: The ability and desire to work collaboratively in a team environment.\nStartup Stamina: Fathom5 is changing the world at the intersection of industrial systems and advanced software.\n\nSometimes changing the world requires long hours, medical clearance for light labor, and occasional travel.\nUltimately, a top-tier Platform Engineer becomes a leader at Fathom5 through a demonstrated ability to streamline operations, enhance system reliability, and drive technological innovation.
