In this vital entry-level role, you will help assist our Utilization Review Specialist in obtaining authorizations for patients that are being treated for substance abuse and mental health. Your role will support clinical teams by coordinating with managed care organizations, and maintaining accurate documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality patient care while navigating complex healthcare policies and coding standards.\nResponsibilities\nProcess patient admissions and discharges by transferring and verifying data between KIPU and the CRM system\nFollow up on active UR cases to track authorization status, deadlines, and outstanding documentation\nSupport UR Specialists with administrative tasks, freeing them to focus on clinical case review and decision-making\nMaintain accurate, up-to-date patient records across all relevant systems Sort, organize, and distribute facility mail\nAssist with other administrative duties as needed to support the UR department's workflow.\nSkills\nExcellent organizational and time-management skills.\nWorks with a sense of duty – values strong attention to detail.\nWorks with a sense of urgency and prioritizes time-sensitive deadlines.\nSome knowledge of managed care processes and utilization management principles (preferred).\nSome knowledge in EMR/EHR systems such as Kipu; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential (preferred).\nStrong understanding of medical coding including CPT codes, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems; experience with DRG assignment is preferred.\nKnowledge of Medicare regulations, long-term care regulations, CMS policies, and health regulation policies.\nExcellent documentation skills\nExcellent customer service skills\nStrong communication skills for collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other privacy standards.\nJoin us in making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes through meticulous utilization review!
