Personal Care Worker (with consumer)
Job Description:Position Summary: Personal Care Worker providespersonal care services to consumer(s) of IndependenceFirst.Personal Care Worker is directly supervised by the Care Coordinatorand the consumer(s) for whom they provide personal care services.Essential Functions of the JobAssisting consumer with getting in and out of bed.Assisting consumer with toileting/incontinent careAssisting consumer with bathing or showeringAssistance with eating.Assistance with grooming to include mouth, denture, hair,shaving and nail care.Assistance with dressing and undressing.Care of eyeglasses and hearing aids.Assistance with mobility and ambulation including use of gaitbelt, walker or cane.Simple transfers including bed to chair or wheel chair and reverse.Skin care excluding wound care.Meal preparation and serving.Light cleaning in areas used during personal care activities.Changing of consumer's bed, washing bed linens and consumer'spersonal clothing.Additional ResponsibilitiesCompletion in a thorough, accurate and timely manner of alltime sheets and documentation of consumer's condition as necessary.Keep consumer's information confidential.The above listed essential functions and qualifications arenot all-inclusive as changes and/or other responsibilities may beassigned as necessary.Experience and Skills:Minimum QualificationsPersonal Care Worker must have adequate training in theprovision of personal care services and in each skill that thepersonal care worker is assigned. Documentation of training isrequired. Previous experience may be accepted in lieu of formal training.Preferred QualificationsFamiliar with the philosophy and concepts of independent living.Ability to understand and follow the consumer's instructions.Good communication and to relate well to others.Good past employment references.Physical strength sufficient to perform required job tasks.Demonstrate dependability and honesty.Ability to work in a one on one setting and to be able tofollow a written plan of duties.
