The individual performs a full range of computer administration functions with minimal direction and/or technical support. The individual will install and configure system hardware, software, printers and verify network connectivity. The individual shall perform advanced troubleshooting and vendor technical liaison functions. The individual shall design and implement trouble shooting and correction plans, develop and coordinate user training programs and documenting all processes and procedures. The Specialists are responsible for collaborating with Technical Architecture Specialist, Functional Architects, Programmers and vendors to coordinate and enhance the use of the platform and facilitate migration to new versions of the platform.Key Responsibilities:Monitor IBM mainframe, Harris Radio towers, Network Nodes, CSN, CAWA, and the Teams email inbox watching for updates to the CSN & Assyst home pageAssist in coordination of testing changes, upgrades and new software products, ensuring systems will operate correctly in current and future environmentMake recommendations on functional and technical improvements to the environmentParticipate in performance and volume analysis and designParticipate in performance improvement activities. Identify and apply potential improvements related to the environment for an applicationProvide accurate and complete answers to general use and environment questions in a timely mannerServe as the point of contact for technology support and servicesServe as the point of integration between the business functions of the department and the technology requirements of the departmentProvide desktop computer support remotelyServe as a point of contact for communication and coordination of service outagesAttend and participate in bi-weekly team and problem review meetingsManage the retirement and disposal of obsolete or broken computer equipmentCoordinate the procurement and installation of new computer hardware and softwareCoordinate virus protection software programs within departmentsUnderstand the installation of software patches and upgradesProvide input to training and/or documentation materials regarding latest technical and functional design changesEnsure that all work is documented for future referenceFollow quality standardsEnsure effective and reliable backups are being performedProactively address customer needsCommunicate accurate and useful status updatesEvaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and softwareInvestigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutionsInstall, configure, and maintain personal computers and other related equipment, devices, and systems adds or upgrades and configures modems, disk drives, CD ROMs, printers, and related equipmentAssist in troubleshooting network issues, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficultiesDevelop and conduct various training and instruction for system usersIdentify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectationsAbility to work in a team environmentStrong communication skills; both written and spokenRequired Skills:1 3 years of desktop support experienceExperience using ticketing systemsStrong customer service skillsStrong documentation experienceBenefits:Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans401k Retirement FundAbout the Client:Augusta, ME-based company with 12,000 employees and $12 billion in sales.
