The ideal candidate will have experience with design for manufacture with injection molded assembly, ideally with consumer or medical device products.\n\nWhat You’ll Do\nDesign & Development\n\nDesigning injection moldable assemblies and supporting the production handoff\n\nCreate detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using Onshape\n\nFocus on electromechanical assembly design and work with electronics designer and product to figure out efficient integrated solutions for electromechanical systems\n\nDevelop and maintain design documentation, including specifications, test procedures, assembly instructions, and technical reports to meet criteria for inclusion in required reporting\n\nUnderstand the impact of different material choices on product lifecycle, durability, and how this impacts what your design choices are\n\nTranslate product design requirements into thoughtful mechanical designs and solutions to meet customer needs\n\nWork with Engineering team leader on deciding the right process for prototyping and volume production of parts\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams touching every part of the business\n\nProject Management\n\nManage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget constraints\n\nCoordinate with suppliers, vendors, and manufacturing partners to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness\n\nParticipate in design reviews, risk assessments, and failure analysis investigations\n\nPresent thorough project updates to stakeholders and management\n\nCultivate empathy with end users and ensure you understand their perspective and how it applies to your work\n\nIdentify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction initiatives\n\nContribute to the development of engineering standards and procedures\n\nSupport manufacturing processes and resolve production-related technical issues\n\nTesting & Validation\n\nDesign and execute test protocols to validate product performance, reliability, and safety\n\nAnalyze test data and implement design improvements based on findings\n\nSupport prototype development and participate in design verification activities\n\nTroubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions\n\nSkills & Experience Required\nEducation & Experience\n\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field\n\nMinimum 4years of professional mechanical engineering experience with at least 2 full product development cycles under your belt\n\nProven track record of successfully completing complex engineering projects from concept to production\n\nFamiliarity and previous collaboration on connected devices controlled by software\n\nTechnical Skills\n\nProficiency in 3D CAD software (Onshape, SolidWorks, Fusio360, Creo, or similar)\n\nStrong knowledge of engineering fundamentals including mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and manufacturing processes\n\nExperience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software\n\nFamiliarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles\n\nUnderstanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal design and fabrication, machining, welding, casting, and injection molding\n\nExperience with rapid prototyping technologies (3D printing, CNC machining)\n\nBeneficial and Bonus Experience\n\nMedical device experience\n\nExperience in seating ergonomics or seating engineering\n\nKnowledge of aviation or aerospace seating standards and certification requirements\n\nUnderstanding of software development processes and agile methodologies\n\nPneumatics experience around sealing surface design\n\nExport-Control Requirements\nTo conform to the U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
