Barista

The Ocean Café at Nye Beach is our newly established top quality coffee and scratch made pastry and sandwich restaurant. We provide an exciting and fun work atmosphere and a great amenity for the Inn at Nye Beach and the surrounding community. We are looking for people with great attitudes who want to put smiles on people’s faces while taking orders, preparing and serving drinks and food, and accepting and posting payments. We will learn the rest together as we get this café off the ground. RESPONSIBILITIES Greets all customers and guests with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks, and food items when possible. Verbally receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner. Actively share and educate customers and guests on products (including pastries) and services. Prepares and serves high-quality drinks and food following all company recipes and procedures. Sells and serves baked or packaged goods to customers and guests. Willing to learn about various types of coffee, tea products, blends, and roasts. Reports all customer complaints to the manager on duty. Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations by listening to and working to achieve a positive result for the customer or guest. Accurately rings sales orders into a cash register and counts back, courteously changing them for customers. Answers phone in a smiling voice, including but not limited to giving greetings, directions, and receiving customer orders. ENVIRONMENT Maintains professionalism with other employees while keeping a fun and energetic employee environment. Restock shelves when necessary. Routinely cleans the bar area, floor, windows, and grinders and removes trash, etc. Cleans bathroom attached to the Café. Assist in the distribution and restocking of shipments. Reports potential safety hazards, accidents, or operational issues to the manager on duty. QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must obtain an Oregon Food Handling Certificate (employee responsibility) Entry Level position May work special events for the Inn at Nye Beach as needed or support the Inn. Maintains positive morale and professional attitude. Must be able to work overtime as needed. Excellent verbal and written skills Well-organized and detail-oriented Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. Regularly required to lift and move items up to 45 pounds. Regularly required to handle food that may contain peanuts. Regularly required to handle hot water and beverages, reaching temperatures above 190 degrees.
